MONROE, Utah (KUTV) — Two parents in Sevier County are fighting for the release of a video of student punishment in the form of excessive exercise that allegedly happened inside South Sevier Middle School. On Nov. 21, 2022, Jared and Shana Kummer’s daughter came home from school sick and injured. “The aide had told them that a sign had been broken in the boys locker room and so all the sixth grade classes were going to be punished that day with this endurance day,” said Shana Kummer, whose daughter was in the sixth grade at South Sevier Middle School at the time. “She (their daughter) was the one who said ‘we did 400 push ups in gym today’ and she was feeling nauseous and sick. She had also had a pain in her chest and that was struggling to breathe at the end of it and then in the middle of the night woke up and could not move her arms and was in like excruciating pain from her muscles like just being like stuck and not being able to move.” FULL STORY AT LINK IN BIO.

Whew, my firstborn had me in tears yesterday! This was definitely a lesson in perseverance and the power of desire for Aria. Since second grade yes, second grade she’s been trying to get a solo in the school concert. She’s now in sixth grade, and it finally happened! Her last year in elementary school, she got the soloist spot and was sooo excited! It just reminded me how important it is for us to keep encouraging our kids and not let them give up just because something doesn’t happen the first, second, or even fifth time around. Aria stuck with it, and she didn’t just get to sing her solo once she sang it THREE times at her school’s spring concert! So proud of you, baby girl. You did amazing, and I love you so much!
