This fish is called as it looks like: Guess its name?? 😈⬇️ • ▶️ Follow @fab.aroundtheglobe • Actually the spiny devilfish has a couple of nicknames. Some highlights are the goblinfish, the demon stinger or the bearded ghoul. And yes, it will never win a beauty contest. It is related to the stone fish and thus is a member of the venomous scorpion fish family. Evolution turned parts of its pectoral fins into spines which the fish uses to walk along the reef or the sandy ocean ground. Meet the newest (and cutest) addition to the snailfish family 🐟 MBARI collaborators @sunygeneseo with scientists from the University of Montana and the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, have described three new deep-sea snailfishes, including one first discovered using MBARI’s remotely operated vehicle Doc Ricketts. Snailfishes make their homes in a variety of ocean habitats—from shallow tide pools to deep-sea trenches. The newly described bumpy snailfish (Careproctus colliculi), observed in the depths of Monterey Canyon nearly 3,300 meters (10,800 feet) underwater, has a distinctive pink color and a bumpy texture. MBARI’s technology is helping researchers document deep-sea biodiversity, and our collaborations with expert taxonomists around the world are helping to advance the discovery of life in the largest living space on Earth. What we’ve learned can help resource managers and policymakers make informed decisions about the future of the ocean to safeguard marine life and environments from threats like climate change and mining.

The Dark Purple Arm Thunderbolt Crayfish (Cherax pulcher) is one of the most stunning and rare freshwater crayfish species in the hobby. Here’s a detailed breakdown: 🌍 Origin • Native to West Papua, Indonesia, in the Ajamaru Lakes and surrounding river systems. • Like many Cherax species, it inhabits clean, well-oxygenated waters with plenty of hiding spots. 🎨 Appearance • Known for its incredible coloration, considered one of the most beautiful crayfish in the world. • Dark, metallic purple claws (arms) are its signature feature — giving rise to the “Thunderbolt” nickname. • The carapace and tail can show shimmering shades of blue, pink, orange, and purple, often changing slightly as the crayfish molts or matures. • Grows to about 4–6 inches (10–15 cm) in length. #aquarium #aquariumfish #aquariumlife #aquariumhobby #fishtank #monsterfish #rarefish #tropicalfish #crayfish #lobsters PS: no kids or crayfish were hurt in the making of this video, They are actually all friends now.🥹

Have you ever watched a little devil 👿 walk? Well, now you can. 🤣🤣 The juvenile devil scorpionfishes are quite colorful, but as the grow up they often become quite drab in color. However, I have seen some full grown amazing teal and crimson red colored species that are breathtakingly beautiful. 🤩 These devils are quite venomous—a good reason to practice good buoyancy so you don’t accidentally put your hand on one hiding under the sand! 😲😳 🎥 GoPro 12 with AOI wet lens #devil #devilscorpionfish #scorpionfish #fish #venomous #danger #funny #fishfacts #padi #aqabadiving #aqabajordan #redsea #deepbluedivecenter #padi #scuba #scubadiving #muckdiving #tauchen #buceo #plongée #underwater #underwatervideo #uwvideo #instareels #underwaterphotography #underwaterlife #underwaterworld #underthesea_perfection #underthesea #underwatervideography #gopro

The Devil Scorpionfish. (Scorpaenopsis Diabolus) 🪨😈 🦂 🐠 Scorpaenopsis diabolus, the false stonefish, false scorpionfish or the devil scorpionfish, is a species of venomous marine ray-finned fish belonging to the family Scorpaenidae, the scorpionfishes. It has venomous spines and lives in the tropical Indian and Pacific Oceans as well as in the Red Sea. It is a bottom-dwelling predator that relies on its camouflage to catch passing prey. Scorpaenopsis diabolus has a broad head with a wide mouth, a humped back, and a tapering body, and can reach 30 cm (12 in) in length. Its dorsal fin has 12 venomous spines and eight to 10 soft rays. The anal fin has three spines and five to six soft rays. The skin is rough with low conical projections, spines, and tassels. The colouring is a combination of mottled grey and white with reddish-brown blotches and the fish is well-camouflaged among stones and corals. The inner sides of the broad pectoral fins have orange, black, and white blotches and the fins can be "flashed" as a warning. This fish closely resembles the reef stonefish (Synanceia verrucosa). Scorpaenopsis diabolus exhibits biofluorescence, that is, when illuminated by blue or ultraviolet light, it re-emits it as red, and appears differently than under white light illumination. Biofluorescence may assist in intraspecific communication and camouflage. Scorpaenopsis diabolus is found at depths to about 70 m (230 ft) in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Its range extends from South and East Africa and the Red Sea to Japan, Hawaii, French Polynesia, Australia, and New Caledonia. It is found on the seabed among rubble, seaweed-covered rocks or on rocks encrusted with coralline algae on reef flats, lagoons, and the seaward side of reefs. . . . . . . . . #stone #scorpion #venomous #poison #death #devil #beautiful #fish #natgeo #nature #naturelovers #naturephotography #love #life #lovelife #foryou #foryourpage #trending #viral #ocean #scubadiving #diving #goodvibes #sea #favorite #calm

A Pacific Spiny Lumpsucker finds the perfect shell to cling to. These tiny, round fish measure only 2.5–7 cm (1–3 inches) and are some of the most uniquely adapted creatures in the North Pacific. Their modified pelvic fins form a suction disc, allowing them to anchor onto rocks, kelp, and even empty shells. Despite their clumsy swimming, their quirky appearance and behaviour make them a favourite among divers and underwater photographers. Filmed by John Roney

All Wiggle, No Rush: Life as a Lumpsucker 🐡 Meet the Pacific Spiny Lumpsucker fish—a tiny, rotund oddball that looks more like a drifting cartoon character than a real fish. These quirky creatures are built more for sticking than swimming, using their modified pelvic fins like suction cups to cling to rocks, kelp, or coral when ocean currents get too rough. ✨ The Velcro of the Sea Instead of cruising through the water like most fish, lumpsuckers bounce and wobble in short bursts. Their bodies are nearly spherical and covered in bony tubercles that give them a rough, armored look—hence the name “spiny.” But don’t let that fool you. They’re harmless, slow-moving, and completely charming. 🌊 A Life Close to Home You’ll usually find them hugging the seafloor or tucked into crevices in cold coastal waters from northern California to the Bering Sea. They’re not built for long-distance travel and tend to stay close to shore, often in rocky reef areas or kelp forests. ⚡ More Than Just a Cute Face Pacific Spiny Lumpsuckers typically grow to just 2 to 3 inches in length. Males are the dedicated ones, guarding the eggs until they hatch. Their pelvic fins form a disc that lets them anchor onto nearly any surface, and while they’re called “suckers,” the attachment relies more on friction and surface tension than true suction.
