Whyyy does the mess barely register for one person… and somehow always end up getting handled by another? 🫠 There are lots of deep layers here - years of conditioning and more but one piece of it is clutter thresholds. Everyone’s tolerance for visual mess is different. And research shows that clutter and visual mess cause a higher stress responses in women, which means are clutter thresholds are just naturally lower😳 So when something isn’t dealt with, it doesn’t just “sit there.” It stays mentally open and it gets noticed, tracked, and remembered. Over time, that often turns into women carrying the load both mentally and physically 😵‍💫 This isn’t about blame or pointing fingers at all It’s about understanding how responsibility can shift in homes, even when no one means for it to happen. Everyone talks about “bringing in institutional equity” like it’s the finish line. What they don’t talk about are the restrictions that come with it. When you partner with institutional capital, you’re not just raising equity — you’re stepping into a completely different operating environment: • Major decision rights and approval thresholds • Strict budgets, reporting, and reserve requirements • Limits on refinances, sales, and distributions • Governance provisions that reduce sponsor flexibility • Personal guarantees, carve-outs, and compliance obligations • Zero tolerance for “winging it” Institutional equity is smart capital — but it is not passive and it is not sponsor-friendly by default. This doesn’t mean it’s bad. It means you need to understand exactly what you’re signing up for before you take the money. I’ve seen sponsors lose control, upside, and optionality simply because they didn’t understand how institutional partners think. If you’re planning to scale past small syndications, this is a lesson you want to learn early, not after your first capital call. If you’re a sponsor thinking about institutional equity, comment “INSTITUTIONAL” and I’ll share what I wish more operators knew before partnering.

Although past revisions to both GST voucher and Workfare thresholds appear comparable on paper, they fail to reflect how inflation has disproportionately impacted lower-income households. Despite recent gains, real income growth for the lowest earners has lagged behind the median for years. It is time to adjust Workfare thresholds to better support those who continue working hard, but struggle with rising living costs. This ensures that work remains rewarding, and keeps pace with the realities faced by the lowest-income earners. #workingforsingapore

Most of the time, they’re getting in through small gaps you walk past every day. Focus on wiping down these key areas: • Door frames and thresholds • Window frames and sills • Baseboards (especially exterior walls) • Sliding doors and patio tracks • Laundry room and utility room edges • Behind trash bins and pet areas • Under sinks where plumbing enters the wall These spots collect scent trails and moisture exactly what insects follow inside. A simple, natural insect-repelling wipe-down mixture: • Water • White vinegar (cleans + disrupts scent trails) • A few drops of essential oils like: – Peppermint (ants, spiders) – Lavender (flies, moths) – Tea tree (ants, roaches) – Eucalyptus (general deterrent) Wiping these areas doesn’t kill bugs it discourages them from entering by removing the signals they rely on. This is preventative maintenance, not pest panic. Do it early, and you’ll deal with far fewer problems later. This is THE issue dividing professional workplaces How do I know this? Literally hundreds of messages from followers repaying Plan 2 student loans since I started asking how their ongoing repayments were affecting them. The extended freeze on income tax thresholds combined with paying an extra 9% tax repaying student loans for most of their working lives (not to mention the cost of living crisis) is a nasty combination for younger workers in their 20s and 30s. It means more professionals working in solidly “middle class jobs” think they can no longer afford what they considered the middle class lifestyle - owning a property, starting a family, being able to save and invest for their future retirement. The last reel on my grid explored what some are calling the “tax on ambition” as high tax rates put off indebted grads on reasonably good salaries from accepting promotions, as the figure they’d be taking on a lot more work for not that much more money. This is yet another example of how our terribly designed tax system is harming UK productivity! As I wrote in my @financialtimes column this weekend, those who have been brave enough to sit down with their bosses and run through the numbers say the bosses are aghast at this situation. Most of them - like me - avoided £9k tuition fees, so in reality have little idea of the outsized impact student debt is having. And with income tax bands and student loan repayment thresholds set to be frozen for years, sadly, this problem is only going to get worse! 🥶 ♻️ Please share this post and raise awareness of how this is affecting the finances of younger taxpayers, and tell me what you think in the comments below.
