TRBunking: The leather soles on some of our shoes are given an added decorative pattern known as “bunking”. This is more common on our town shoes. Bunking is a process that takes years of experience and takes place in the finishing room. An expert eye is required to master the traditional freehand skill. This is done with a bunking wheel, sometimes called a crows wheel, which is attached to a small wooden handle. The wheel has the decorative pattern which can be heated with a naked flame, this leaves the imprint of the pattern on the sole.
Because we do everything from start to finish in our Northampton factory, we have total control over every part of the shoemaking process.
