Most people struggle with double unders because they train single unders with almost no jump at all. In this reel, you’ll see the real difference in jump height between a single under and a double under. When your single unders barely leave the floor, the jump required for double unders feels massive — and that’s where timing, panic, and tripping start. On the flip side, some of you already do jump high when attempting doubles - but your problem is a different one. Often it turns into a donkey kick or you pike your feet out in front. Watch this video to see that the only real change is the height. My feet only move up and down; not forward or back. If you want smoother double unders, your single unders need to look more like controlled, athletic jumps, not rope shuffles. ⚡️Tips for getting Double Unders! ⚡️ Share this with someone who wants to learn double unders! 👀 1️⃣ Get your own rope. It’ll be easier to practice if you’re using the same rope every time. There are cheap options on Amazon! Make sure you don’t get a “speed cable” if you’re a beginner because It’ll spin too fast. You’ll want something with a little bit of thickness so that you can control the speed and work on your cadence/timing. 2️⃣ Measure the rope correctly. Stand in the center of the rope. The handles should fall somewhere between your arm pits and rib cage. 3️⃣ Jump straight up and down. I know it’s easier said than done when you’re first starting but try to stay relaxed and try to keep your legs straight. Aggressively kicking during the jump will only make you more tired. It should feel effortless. 4️⃣ Practice every day! Consistency is key. I recommend practicing for 5-10 minutes every time you workout. Throw it into your warm up or cool down. I promise the more you practice, the more it’ll click! 5️⃣ Keep your arms at your sides Try not to move your arms too much. They should be relaxed. The spin should come from your wrists not your arms. 6️⃣ Look at a focal point. Sometimes it can be helpful to look at one spot in the gym.
