This “Japanese walking technique” sounds like nonsense. But it is actually true, and there is research to support it. If you are young and highly active, this probably isn’t for you. But it is yet another piece of evidence supporting that for older or more sedentary people, some form of exercise really can make a big difference. In an ideal world, everyone would be lifting weights to get stronger, but not everyone wants to go to the gym. So meeting them where they are at and giving them something they can do now is a wonderful idea. I can’t be the only one. I love hitting that daily step goal. For me I aim for around 12,000-14,000 steps a day. Do you track your steps? I think it’s a good way to see how active or inactive you are throughout the day. Many of us are stuck at a desk, in our cars or on our phones and we are moving WAY less than before. Things are delivered right to our door and unless you live in a place where you walk everywhere, we are not waking as much as we should be. So here is my recommendation. Aim to get 8,000-10,000 steps a day. This might be as simple as adding two 30 minutes walks in your day, parking far from the grocery store or taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Walk as you have meetings and talk on the phone. Or if all else fails, just do laps around your house 😆. Tracking hit many steps you’re getting is a great way to see where you’re at and work/improve from there! #dailywalk #getyourstepsin #10000steps
