That’s why proper care is essential to avoid breakage and scalp conditions like alopecia. The good news is, with the right approach, your 4C curls can flourish and reach their full potential! Let's unlock those healthy hair goals together! Here are some key strategies I've found to work wonders in retaining length: ➝ Dryness is the enemy for coily kinky hair! Regular moisture treatments (think weekly or bi-weekly deep conditioning) are your new best friend. This builds elasticity into your strands and keeps split ends at bay. I recommend the Rosemary & Mint Deep Conditioner by @designessentials 💡Pro tip: Minimize air drying whenever possible, as it leaves the cuticle unsealed and more susceptible to dryness. ➝ Understanding your hair’s porosity is key! The right protein treatment strengthens your hair’s cuticle, making it more resistant to damage. I recommend protein treatments to be performed by a professional only. ➝ Gentleness is key too! I bought every type of hair product you can name at target and my hair still was a dry undefined matted mess. it wasn’t until I started doing my hair dripping wet that the products were able to actually saturate into my hair and moisturize it well The notion that Black people shouldn’t or can’t get their hair wet we all learned as kids is so completely wrong.
