FAMany of you have asked what a crash feels like on a 6DOF rig. Today, we almost found out. During a Case III Recovery with low visibility and strong wind, a slight misalignment nearly led to a collision with the carrier’s island.
High-fidelity simulation isn’t about seeking the explosion; it’s about the precision required to avoid it.
In those critical seconds, there’s no time to check gauges; you rely on pure instinct and physical telemetry, if the approach doesn’t feel right, nose up, full throttle, and the negative Gs to clear the deck and with that, a nice message that I found, I hope you enjoy and reflect

FAA perfect multi-sim rig isn’t just the hardware, it’s flexibility for transition. I spent hours figuring out how to swap my Hornet stick and MIP panels for a steering wheel without touching a single screwdriver.
This 20-second timelapse is the result of a lot of trial and error (and maybe some frustration) trying to find a way to switch seamlessly. Now, it’s just a matter of “Click, Swap, and Drive.”

The preparation on the deck is where the @winctrl_official Take Off Panel truly shows its worth. Having physical switches to unfold the wings, drop the launch bar, and set the flaps allows me to keep my eyes on the “Yellow Shirt” without ever touching a mouse. Once airborne, slamming that physical gear and flaps levers is the perfect way to end the launch sequence.
As I throttle up to full Afterburner, the @nextlevelracing.flight HF8 vibrates with the raw power of the engines. When the shuttle releases, the @motionxp_6dof pitches back violently while the belt tensioner pulls me into the seat, perfectly simulating the crushing G-forces of a catapult launch. I will never know if this feeling is close to real, but in this cockpit, every nerve in my body is convinced it is.
By integrating the “7th DOF” through the haptic pad, the physical “shove” of the launch reaches a level of immersion that is hard to put into words.
We are officially airborne and headed to the Area of Operations
