🐶 ACCT Philly (@acctphilly), the city’s open-intake shelter, received a call Sunday, March 15, about a dog stranded high above the ground on SEPTA’s Market-Frankford line. 🐾 The dog, Dottie, was facing a “several-story drop” of nearly 40 feet. A small dog named "Dottie" is safe after getting trapped on a SEPTA train track beam at the 63rd and Market platform on Sunday, March 15. Witnesses saw the dog, a small black Shih Tzu mix, running along the tracks Sunday evening before getting stuck on top of one of the support pillars. SEPTA police contacted ACCT Philly's Animal Protection officers, who, with the help of SEPTA maintenance workers, brought in a cherry picker to reach the stranded pup. In a rescue video posted to ACCT Philly's Facebook page, Animal Protection Officer Kevin says, "Don't jump, bud," before getting close enough to pull the visibly shaken dog to safety with a leash and a blanket.

You’re finally getting attention you think your owner came back for you. You think this is your moment. But instead, you’re led down a cold hallway… and the door shuts behind you. It’s the euthanasia room. And you never even saw it coming 💔 This is the heartbreaking reality inside city shelters like ACCT Philly. Dogs are dying every single day not because they’re aggressive, but because there’s no space, and no one steps up in time. This week alone, Philly Rescue Angels saved seven timestamped dogs who were out of time: ❤️ Dale – found tied to a fence, scared but gentle, saved as he was being walked to the euthanasia room (needs a foster!) ❤️ Harry – a sweet boy tossed away like trash, now safe and loved ❤️ Luffy – full of love and goofiness, just needed someone to see her in time ❤️ Fendi – too shut down to even stand, gave the tiniest tail wag when we gave her a chance ❤️ Pattie – a throwaway mama, completely forgotten now finally has a foster and a soft place to land ❤️ Shakira – tagged just 20 minutes before she was set to be euthanized we barely made it in time ❤️ Remi Paw - a 4 year old sweet girl found in someone’s backyard. Remi loves to play fetch and play tug a war We are doing everything we can, but we’re exhausted. We don’t have a building. We don’t have endless funds. We just have a will to fight for them.
