ASWe saved Brie, then she saved her adopter 🧡
Found abandoned and severely emaciated, the @NYPD rushed a weak dog named Brie to the ASPCA Animal Recovery Center in late February 2025. It was there that our veterinarians discovered the extent of her condition.
Brie had pressure sores all over her body and other internal abnormalities commonly seen with malnutrition. She also required two blood transfusions in our ICU after a severe decline that revealed low red blood cells. Once she was stable again, Brie was placed on a refeeding plan to help her gain weight safely, and after three months, she was healthy enough to get spayed. Despite her past, Brie trusted people immediately and still had such a zest for life that you couldn't help falling in love with her, which is exactly what happened to Jeff C. when he first saw her.
Jeff was left feeling empty after losing his partner of 10 years. Knowing he had to do something before his depression worsened, he went online and applied for three dogs at the ASPCA Adoption Center, one of which was Brie. Jeff got the call on his birthday that he was approved to adopt Brie, and the rest is history. Jeff fell in love at first sight, and now credits Brie for his new lease on life. Now, the two are inseparable, sharing a common story of a life of heartache, to one that is full of joy.
