On 28th June this year, thousands upon thousands of people came together to defy Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán passing legislation to ban Pride and other protests supporting equal rights of LGBTI people. Demonstrators - including over 280 Amnesty International activists and staff from Hungary and 22 other countries - came together to peacefully demand equality, freedom of assembly and human rights. It was the largest march in Budapest Pride’s history. This is how we respond to people who try to deny our rights.

Trump's star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame has been repeatedly vandalized, becoming a recurring site of protest and political expression. The ongoing damage has prompted renewed calls for removal of the star from activists and elected officials. The West Hollywood City Council has formally urged that it be taken down. Trump was awarded the star on January 16, 2007 for Television Production for The Apprentice. In 2018, a man named Austin Clay, 24 at the time of incident, used a pickax to smash Donald Trump's star. Clay told reporters that he felt the vandalism was a "rightful and just act" and that he wanted to "bring about positive political change" due to Trump's rhetoric. Clay was charged with one felony count of vandalism. In November 2018, he pleaded no contest to the charge. He received a sentence of: three years of probation, 1 day in jail, over $9,400 in restitution to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce for repairs, community service, psychological counseling.  The man who had vandalised Trump's star in 2016 bailed out Austin Clay in 2018. I hope that Austin Clay knows he is responsible to bail out the next guy arrested for the vandalism of Trump's star. Black and Jewish people have more in common than you think…LET’S TALK ABOUT IT 🗣️🫱🏼‍🫲🏿 In the 1960s, we marched side by side, uniting against racist policies that targeted both communities. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. understood that justice is collective. He stood alongside Jewish leaders, rabbis, and activists who marched with him in Selma and fought for civil rights shoulder to shoulder. He believed that “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,” and he lived that truth through unity. During WWII, Jewish and Black soldiers fought together against the horrors of Nazism, and in the U.S., both groups stood up to the Ku Klux Klan—a shared enemy that spread hate toward us both. They want us divided, but who benefits from keeping Black and Jewish communities apart? Today, extremists and hate groups push false narratives to turn us against each other. Conspiracy theories pit us against each other when the truth is, both Black and Jewish communities are minorities who share a history of oppression and resilience in their own ways. In the past, we stood side by side against hate. Dr. King taught us that unity is not optional… it’s essential. Imagine how much stronger we’d be today if we stood together again against those who seek to silence and harm us both. Imagine what we could accomplish if we reclaimed that unity today. Our unity could be their greatest threat. Today, on Martin Luther King Day, it’s time we remember the strength we have when we stand united 🤍🖤👩🏼‍🤝‍👨🏿
