THNeed a Drink? This 100 year old clockwork bear does. He is shown stripped of his fur coat which was infested with hungry moth larvae. We restored him back to full furry health but this skeletal film is perhaps more interesting, showing clearly how his ‘magic’ bottle never runs out of liquor. Made in Paris c.1910 by Roullet & Decamps. The drinking mechanism is revealed in more detail in the book ‘Secrets of Automata - Ingenious Designs for Mechanical Life’.
The music is ‘Capricho de género español’ played on a Polyphon music box, if you listen carefully you can hear the moment the Penny drops.
