MUIm so honored to center #ASL in this next lyric video for my song “My Why”. @_jtay_ Justina did this song so much Justice. Her ASL interpretation was so moving to me. I’m so grateful that we linked up. Many of you who know my brother Sequoyah who recently became my ancestor, taught me sign language as a child when he attended a deaf school in Baltimore. He was born with Downs Syndrome and had a challenge with his speech. My mother advocated for him to transfer to a school for deaf students to learn sign language and it improved his quality of life so much. I always think of him when I see people signing now. I miss him so much and this video is in his honor. “My Why”
