There is nothing wrong with helping the people you love, but when you lose yourself to consistently help others, it may be time to work on your boundaries and self esteem. I will be going through all the trauma responses in my next videos ❤️ the first one I want to focus on is fawn; the people pleasing response. This response can come from a variety of experiences. For childhood trauma survivors, fawn can be a trauma response that was developed as a way to stay safe forms neglectful or abusive parents. Many people who have a fawn trauma response would need to “keep the peace” and keep others happy to ensure their safety. When we people please, we often seek validation based on how useful we feel to other people, this can’t be how we measure our self worth or we will never put ourselves first. People pleasing is often an overlooked trauma response which is referred to as “fawning,” This can result in:⁣ ⁣ - feeling guilty for saying no⁣ - feeling guilty when you are angry at others⁣ - feeling responsible for other feelings⁣ - blaming yourself when things go wrong⁣ - being confused about your values and priorities⁣ - compromising your own happiness for others⁣ - low self-esteem & confidence⁣ - trying to fit in/a large desire to be included⁣ - feeling drained and exhausted⁣ ⁣ A crucial step in healing the “fawn” response will be learning to develop your true values as well as learning how to create and assert healthy boundaries. Things I didn’t know were a narcissistic trauma response: You may notice I don’t look at my daughter here. I felt sad, because my daughter recognized my birthday, but not my spouse…once again. Not looking at anyone was intentional, so my children would not see my pain and concern that they were always the organizers for my birthday. That was protection. Not because I was weak. Not because I lacked boundaries. Not because I was co-dependent, naive, or “didn’t know better.” But because my nervous system was working. I had learned—through experience—that eye contact plus visible emotion made me a target. That sadness, disappointment, or unmet needs invited retaliation. That protecting my children meant controlling my own face. So my body chose: ✅ Stillness. ✅ Neutrality. ✅ Containment. ✅ Silence. This wasn’t disconnection. It was precision. This is what narcissistic trauma often looks like: 🙋‍♀️Quiet. 🙋‍♀️ Strategic. 🙋‍♀️ Highly attuned. A nervous system scanning for safety and keeping everyone out of harm’s way. 👉🏻 That isn’t weakness. 👉🏻 That’s strength. 👉🏻 It’s intelligent. 👉🏻 It’s beautifully adaptive. And if you recognize yourself here, please hear this: You weren’t broken. You weren’t failing. Your nervous system was doing exactly what it was designed to do. 💛 Healing isn’t about “trying harder,” enforcing tougher boundaries, or blaming yourself. It’s about teaching your nervous system that safety no longer requires hiding. ✨ Free masterclass: From Eggshells to Calm — link in bio. #narcissisticabuse #traumaresponse #nervoussystemintelligence #relationaltrauma #complextrauma #traumainformed #emotionalabuseawareness #fromeggshellstocalm

Understanding how your vagus nerve functions changes how trauma symptoms make sense. Many trauma responses aren’t psychological “patterns” to think your way out of — they’re neurobiological states of survival. The important part? The vagus nerve is highly responsive to somatic input. Movement, breath, sound, pressure, rhythm — these aren’t add-ons. They’re how the nervous system comes back online. When vagal pathways are activated, the body can: • shift out of chronic fight/flight • reduce shutdown and dissociation • restore regulation and internal safety • support emotional processing without overwhelm This isn’t about forcing calm. It’s about giving the nervous system what it needs to reorganise. My affordable online somatic healing classes (8 in total), alongside ‘How to Manage Your Emotions’ online course, are built around this exact work — practical, body-based, and trauma-informed. If this landed, save it. If it explains something you’ve struggled to name, share it. If you’re ready to work with your nervous system — not against it — explore the classes via the link in bio. ✨ #polyvagaltheory #somatichealing #nervoussystemregulation #complextrauma #traumahealing Credit @xavork 🙌

Why trauma memories hit out of nowhere Your nervous system isn’t betraying you. It’s doing what it always did to keep you alive. When you were in survival mode, your body couldn’t process everything. So it packed it away. Let you function. Let you survive. But here’s the thing: Your nervous system doesn’t forget. It waits. It waits for safety. For routine. For moments of calm. Then, when you’re finally able, it brings things back up. Not because you’re failing. Not because you’re “regressing.” But because now, you can handle it. They’re signs your system trusts you again. Painful? Yes. Progress? Also yes. If this resonates, you don’t have to sit with it or navigate it alone. 👉 Join the @healing.and.cptsd community hub - a private, trauma-informed space for survivors by survivors. Many people are HSP (highly sensitive people) and empaths do exist! I’m not saying that all of it was trauma but what I am saying is…. Often we develop traits based on our environments and what we needed for survival. We learn to be extra sensitive for protection in times we lack safety. Although parents mood can impact us, it should not impact our “quality of life” there is a difference between being sad and having a consistent diminishing quality of life due to parents moods. 🛋THERAPY at my practice @sereincounseling 🎙PODCAST @dearmind.podcast 🖤Check out all my other socials links in bio . . . . . #cptsd #complextrauma #triggerpoints #ptsdawareness #triggers #ptsdrecovery #thrivingwithptsd #ptsdsurvivor #empowering #ptsdadailybattle #healingfromwithin #ptsdquotes #ptsdsupport #complexptsd #posttraumaticgrowth #endthestigma #traumaisreal #traumarecovery #complexptsdrecovery

Do you feel like you’re asking for the same thing over and over again in your relationship? Or do you feel like you’re trying your hardest to give your partner what they need but it never seems like enough? Here are some reasons why couples may repeat the same arguments, which in many cases can lead to resentment and unhealthy dynamics? 1. Unresolved Issues: Similar to this video, in many situations one partner will ask what they need over and over again, and while there might be minor changes it often results in old behaviours coming back to the surface. It’s common for an argument to continue on if it was never resolved. Solution⭕️: have a plan you can both follow. Don’t leave the solutions up in the air. What does change look like and how are you both implementing and checking in with each other to hold each other accountable? 2. Deeper Underlying Issues: Some arguments might be because of deeper concerns or fears within the relationships. Maybe there is jealousy or a fear of abandonment that manifests in one partner seeking reassurance by fighting and avoiding their true feelings. Solution⭕️: set aside a time each week to talk to your partner about what you’re feeling, having this scheduled will allow the conversation to happen more organically. Be as open and honest as you can. If it’s too hard saying it out loud, write it down and have them read it. 4. Insecurities and Past relationships: People may be drawn to partners who replicate unhealthy dynamics from their parent’s, leading to the reenactment of familiar arguments. We may also do this ourselves, which can impact our communication and attachment styles. Solution⭕️: Reflect on what may no longer be serving you in relationships. Work on self awareness and try to understand your projections. Encourage your partner to do the same. Ib @decoding_couples ❤️

Healing CPTSD is exhausting.. uncomfortable and lonely sometimes. No one talks about the grief. The identity loss. The boundaries that cost you people. The memories that resurface. Healing complex trauma means facing the very things your nervous system worked so hard to survive. If you’re in it right now and it feels harder than you expected… you are not doing it wrong. You are doing deep work. 🤍 Comment what harsh truths you discovered. 🤍 Save this for the days you question your progress. 🤍 Share with someone who needs to hear it. If you need a way to regulate while you’re healing, my 73-page trauma-informed coloring workbook is linked in my bio. #CPTSD #ComplexTrauma

You heal trauma by feeling/being aware of your sensations. Get very good at feeling your trauma sensations and you'll get the healing and results you're after. Allowing your trauma sensations is a response that signals safety to your nervous system. Trauma sensations/pain can only be opened up to, watched and validated. They cannot be manipulated, evaluated, hurried or changed. When they get the attention and time they need, they are able to complete their healing mission. Traumatized people who remain in the sensing mode without engaging their thought processes feel a release and an opening; their attention then focuses back on the external world. You'll be able to sense this shift in yourself and know that healing has taken place. Simple awareness is key to healing trauma. I'm not talking about introspection here. They don't have the same meaning. introspection is a directing of our attention in a deliberate, evaluating, controlling and, not infrequently, judgmental way. Introspection, while often valuable can in itself become interfering, taking us far away from the here and now. On the other hand, awareness is the spontaneous, and creatively neutral, experiencing of whatever arises in the present moment whether sensation, feeling, perception, thought or action. Trauma just wants your attention. You just have to open up yourself to it, validate it and just watch it. It actually feels freeing. So, it's not about being in your head evaluating, wishing it would go away. That's resistance. Everything will change for you when you change it from "how can I get rid of this" to "how I can be with this"? From experience, there are only benefits to feeling your trauma sensations. You just have to learn how to feel your sensations. The work is about feeling your sensations, instead of avoiding, suppressing, and repressing. This is how you discharge/dissolve trauma energies. This is how I started going out of shutdown, survival mode, numbness. This is how you go back to your true self and get your social skills back. Resistance is what signals danger to your nervous system and what keeps the trauma stuck inside your body. 🔗 My ebooks are my bio.
