I realised I’d either have to compromise on everything I wanted, or remortgage! Instead of a full renovation, we went with cabinet refacing from @nudoors — keeping the existing kitchen cabinets and replacing them with new cabinet doors for a fresh, updated look. One of the most budget-friendly kitchen upgrades with the biggest impact. We used nuDoors’ nuVision”, prepped and painted everything ahead of time, and once the new doors arrived, a handyman handled the install. Not a full DIY kitchen remodel — but absolutely a DIY-friendly kitchen update you can try at home. The plot twist I didn’t see coming 😅 I get so many comments any time I post my kitchen. Mostly hate that I’ve removed this “character mid century modern kitchen” but I always wonder where you get this impression? This is mdf with a fake wood cover in a 2000’s builder grade home, the melamine was falling off, corroded cupboard bases, yellow smoke staining and dangerous wiring that didn’t work. I can totally understand that my new kitchen isn’t for everyone and that’s fine it’s not meant to be. If this house had “original features” I’d be keeping them but the early 2000’s wasn’t known for its architecture 🥴 #kitchenreno #kitchenremodel #diykitchen #doerupper #diyhome
