In a time when women’s rights are being stripped away — yesterday’s Denver Summit FC opener at Empower Field hit different.
Six skydivers. Pyrotechnics. A B-2 bomber flyover.
Welcoming our women’s team!
Then the players walked onto the field holding hands with girls club members, and I completely lost it.
The supporter section put you in the game. Nearly 60,000 people showing up — loud, proud, all in.
And those women played nearly the full 90 minutes on sheer heart, with only three subs coming on late.
This is what it looks like when a city shows up for its women.
