MYIllegal liquor worth ₹50 lakh seized in Greater Noida
The Excise Department in Greater Noida has carried out a major action against liquor smugglers. A truck carrying 570 cartons of illegal liquor marked for Punjab sale was seized near Luharli Toll Plaza in the Dadri police station area. The estimated value of the seized liquor is around ₹50 lakh.
The Excise Department has been running a special campaign against illegal liquor smuggling. Acting on a tip-off, a team stopped a truck near Luharli Toll Plaza on Tuesday night. During inspection, a large quantity of liquor was found hidden behind thermocol sacks inside the truck.
The seized consignment included multiple brands with labels stating “For Sale in Punjab.” Among the 570 cartons were: 78 cartons of Royal Stag Whisky (750 ml), 40 cartons (375 ml), and 36 cartons (180 ml); 47 cartons of Royal Challenge (750 ml) and 34 cartons (375 ml); 30 cartons of Sterling Reserve (750 ml); 99 cartons of McDowell’s No.1 (750 ml), 45 cartons (375 ml), and 44 cartons (180 ml).
Additionally, 40 cartons of Thunderbolt Beer (500 ml) and 77 cartons of Kingfisher Beer (500 ml) were also recovered. The liquor was being transported from Haryana to Bihar.
During the operation, the smugglers traveling in the truck managed to escape. The Excise Department has registered a case under the Excise Act at Dadri police station against the truck owner and the absconding driver.
