OF“7 years ago, the doctors told me, ‘You’ll not be able to walk again…’
Back in school, I was a star athlete. Everyone would tell me, ‘You will bring the next gold medal for India.’ But randomly, I started getting cramps in my legs…& soon, I began limping. The doctors said, ‘It’s calcium deficiency.’ I was put on painkillers, but even that stopped working. Numerous tests & surgeries later, the doctors said, ‘Your daughter has bone cancer.’ I was 13.
I was told, ‘Thode din hospital me rehna padega.’ Every other day, I was taken for chemo or a blood transfusion. I had knots all over my body. I would shriek in pain. I would think, ‘Why me?’ I hated my life. The doctor said, ‘We will have to remove a part of your hip where the cancer has spread. And because of this, the length of both your legs will never be equal.’
Every day a dream of mine was getting crushed under the weight of my cancer. They removed a part of my hip & put pins on my knees. After going through 10 surgeries, a year later in 2018, the doctor finally said, ‘You’re cancer-free, but we don’t know if you will ever live a normal life again.’ A ray of hope was given to me & then snatched away within seconds.
I began going to school again…but with a walker. Seeing other kids live a normal life hurt me. I even started physiotherapy. It helped–soon I began using a stick to walk. I felt like I didn’t have a purpose in life…
But things changed in 2019…the hospital had organized an event for cancer survivors & I was asked to perform. I thought, ‘People will laugh at me.’ But as I went on the stage & began dancing, all I could hear was the crowd cheering & hooting. That day, I felt like I was someone…someone more than my illness. And from then on, I took up every opportunity I got—I danced wherever I could, I won a beauty pageant for cancer survivors & I even began spreading awareness amongst other cancer patients.
Today, I’m 20 & people invite me to colleges & schools to talk about my journey. These last 7 years have not been short of challenges, but I never gave up. Because I have heard, ‘Life is all about placing bets, & I have placed mine…on me. And I’m here for the win!”

arugula
sunflower sprouts (buy them at whole foods or grow your own)
broccoli sprouts
shredded cauliflower
shredded purple cabbage
shredded carrots
chopped green apple
blueberries
pumpkin seeds
hemp seeds
avocado
red onion
lemon juice squeezed on top
🍯 And I like to make a salad dressing out of:
1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
1 tsp basil
1 tsp oregano
1 clove chopped garlic
1/4 tsp salt
Dan of honey or liquid stevia
I add it to an old baby food jar and shake and dump it all over my salad! 😊
💪 Pro tip: rather than chop my ingredients, I will sometimes run them through my food processor for a few pulses.

KERound 7 of chemotherapy done two days ago. This one was really hard on me and I didn’t feel good at all. But today I’m finally starting to feel like myself again.
I also met with the liver specialist, and the plan is to do another CT scan in one month. If the tumors keep shrinking, they are considering surgery to remove the cancer from the colon and possibly placing a pump in my liver so I can continue receiving chemotherapy directly to the liver.
Taking it one step at a time and staying hopeful. Thank you all for the prayers and support. ❤️

BRWorld Cancer Day.
There are no words that fully explain what cancer takes from the person you love or what it does to the ones standing beside them. Watching someone you love fight cancer is indescribable. It steals normalcy. It steals certainty. It turns your entire world upside down and forces you to learn how to live in a life you no longer recognize.
Cancer does not shape just one person. It shapes the entire family. It wrecks routines, futures, plans, and peace. It pulls you into spaces you never expected to be in. Hospital hallways. Waiting rooms. Phone calls with insurance companies when your only focus should be your loved one.
Today, I pray for cures. I pray for more research. I pray for a healthcare system that supports people instead of breaking them down. I pray for a world where families do not have to fight insurance companies while already fighting for someone they love.
Today, I want to say how incredibly proud I am of my husband. His strength. His fight. His love. His energy. Even on the hardest days, he continues to show up. Watching him fight with courage, grace, and heart has changed me forever.
Cancer changes everything. It wrecks your world, but it also shifts your perspective. You begin to see life differently. You notice the smallest blessings. You hold onto moments tighter. It is God’s way of reminding you how much you have been given, even while you are still in the middle of the battle.
Today, we stand with every fighter. Every caregiver. Every family whose world has been turned upside down.
You are not alone. Your fight matters.

„Als ich die blauen Flecken auf meinem Körper entdeckt hatte, änderte sich alles“, erinnert sich Angi. Sie bekam 2018 die Diagnose Blutkrebs. Seit 2023 gilt Angi wieder als krebsfrei.
Die Krankheit und Behandlungen haben ihre Spuren hinterlassen: „Ich bin oft krank und leide unter chronischem Husten. Meine Lunge ist vernarbt und meine Mandeln sind durch die Chemo quasi ‚weggeschmolzen‘. Wenn ich viel Sport mache, geht es mir besser, aber ich merke einfach, dass mein Körper gebeutelt und viel anfälliger für Krankheiten ist“, sagt sie. Klagen möchte Angi nicht. „Ich bin dankbar, dass ich für meine Kinder da sein kann und leben darf. Außerdem habe ich eine neue Liebe gefunden, und wir genießen das Leben als Patchworkfamilie.“
Die 6-köpfige Familie ist oft unterwegs. „Wir reisen viel, grillen im Garten und verbringen Zeit mit der Verwandtschaft und Freunden“, erzählt Angi. „Bei allem, was ich mache, lebe ich noch bewusster. Ich ernähre mich gesund und höre auf die Signale meines Körpers. Wenn etwas nicht stimmt, lasse ich mich untersuchen, um sicherzugehen, dass alles gut ist.“
Was den Gang zum Arzt betrifft, ist sie sich sicher: „Egal ob Vorsorgeuntersuchung oder ein Check, wenn man Symptome hat, ist ein Arztbesuch wichtig. Ich sage nicht, dass man bei jedem kleinen Wehwehchen losspringen muss. Aber man sollte seinen Körper regelmäßig durchchecken lassen und auf ihn hören, wenn etwas nicht stimmt.“ Diesen Tipp hat Angi erst kürzlich einer Freundin gegeben.
„Nach einem Hautarztbesuch, bei dem die Vorstufe von Hautkrebs diagnostiziert und behandelt wurde, kam sie zu mir und hat sich bedankt“, sagt Angi und ergänzt: „Das Danke hätte nicht sein müssen. Ich habe mich einfach gefreut, dass sie sich für die Untersuchung entschieden hat und ihr geholfen wurde.“

LOAls Almira Anfang Januar die Diagnose Endometrium-Karzinom erhält, steht die Welt plötzlich still. „Werde ich sterben? Werde ich jemals ein eigenes Kind haben?“, schießt es ihr durch den Kopf. Die Gedanken überschlagen sich – Angst, Wut, Unsicherheit. „Schöne Scheiße – und nun?“ Doch statt zu resignieren, trifft Almira eine klare Entscheidung: „Ich bin verantwortlich für meine Haltung – und ich bestimme, wie ich diese Situation sehe.“
Der Krebs zwingt sie zur Entschleunigung. „Im Schmerz fand ich Raum für Ruhe, Klarheit und echte Prioritäten“, sagt sie. Ausgerechnet in dieser schwierigen Zeit erkennt sie, wie kostbar das ist, was oft als selbstverständlich gilt. „Gesundheit ist eine unsichtbare Krone auf dem Kopf der Gesunden – nur die Kranken sehen sie.“
Auch ihr Umfeld spielt eine große Rolle. „Durch mein positives Verhalten sind meine Familie und Freund:innen ebenfalls optimistisch geblieben“, erzählt Almira. Sie halten gemeinsam am Alltag fest, so normal wie möglich. „Der Krebs ist da, aber wir versuchen, unser Leben weiterzuleben.“
Stark wird Almira vor allem durch sich selbst. „An erster Stelle stehe ich“, betont sie. Und wenn sie an ihre große Schwester denkt, die innerhalb eines Jahres zweimal an Leukämie erkrankte und kämpft, findet sie darin ein Vorbild an Mut und Stärke.
Auch das Look Good Feel Better-Seminar hat ihr gutgetan. „Ich habe es bereits weiterempfohlen”, sagt sie. “Die Tipps waren hilfreich und der Austausch war angenehm“, sagt Almira. Über Social Media war sie darauf aufmerksam geworden.
Was Almira glücklich macht? Reisen, Interior Design, Zeit mit ihren Liebsten – und ihr Glaube. Ihre Lebenshaltung spiegelt sich in ihrem Motto: Mit der Erschwernis kommt die Erleichterung. Hinter jeder Prüfung steht eine Weisheit.
