I'M ON A MISSION to walk solo and self-supported from the furthest west point of the Australian mainland (Steep Point, Western Australia) to the furthest east point (Cape Byron, New South Wales), through the heart of the country. After more than four months of hiking, I can celebrate reaching the centre of Australia (Lambert's Centre), marking the halfway point of my human-powered adventure. Along the way I have raised more than $30,000 for an Australian charity supporting Australia's youth. The charity @batyraus runs programs in schools and universities, and elsewhere within our communities, to help remove the stigma associated with talking about our experiences with mental ill health. Rates of psychological distress among our youth are increasing at scary rates, and we can all play a role in reversing the trend. I blamed everything for my acne. 
Eggs. Dairy. My pillowcase. “My hormones.” I truly believed if I could just find the one trigger and eliminate it, my skin would finally calm down. But none of those were the real root cause. When I finally ran comprehensive functional testing, a much clearer picture emerged:
- Candida overgrowth disrupting my immune response.
- H. pylori driving chronic inflammation.
- A parasite my body was constantly reacting to.
- Bacterial overgrowth throwing off gut balance.
- Increased intestinal permeability (leaky gut).
- And poor digestive capacity, meaning I wasn’t breaking food down properly — even “healthy” foods. My skin wasn’t reacting to eggs or dairy.
It was responding to an inflamed, overburdened gut and a body stuck in survival mode. Once I stopped guessing and addressed what was actually driving the inflammation underneath, everything shifted — not overnight, but steadily and sustainably. Acne isn’t random.
And it’s rarely about being more restrictive or more disciplined. It’s about identifying the real drivers, supporting the body in the right order, and giving your system the conditions it needs to heal. My skin wasn’t betraying me.

Some corals are venomous (fire coral), and some are poisonous (e.g. Palythoa and Zoanthus) 🪸 Many venomous fish lie on top of corals (e.g. scorpion fish, stone fish, lion fish) Bad for the ECOSYSTEM: 🪸 Corals are not rocks, they’re colonies of tiny alive animals that you kill when you step on them 🪸 Corals are the foundation of the reef, a vital ecosystem that supports 25% of marine life worldwide, while they only cover 1% of the ocean floor. They restored 1,000 statues and are still busy. You see the process in the museum. • They are originally painted in bright colors (not grey like you see now) • The main tomb of the emperor is still unopened HOW TO VISIT 🚅 Take a high speed train from Beijing (4hours) 🛌 Stay in Xi’An centre: you can visit this another day. 🚕 Take a Didi taxi from Xi’An centre to Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum.
