During our latest journey through Gabon, we ventured deep into Ivindo National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2021. Hidden in the endless rainforest of central-eastern Gabon, Ivindo is home to some of the country’s most breathtaking natural treasures: the Kongou waterfalls and the Langoué Bai.
The Kongou Falls, often called the “Niagara of Africa,” are among the most powerful waterfalls in Central Africa, while the Langoué Bai is a magical forest clearing where forest elephants, gorillas, sitatungas, and countless birds gather to feed, drink, and socialize.
We were lucky enough to witness around 40 elephants and 10 gorillas sharing the same space — an unforgettable moment in one of the most pristine corners of Africa. 🐘🦍
Exploring Ivindo requires preparation, but the reward is stepping into one of the planet’s last great wildernesses.
