During the House Judiciary Non-Civil Committee, I spoke in opposition to SB 74 that would remove long-standing protections for libraries and librarians and expand criminal penalties related to materials deemed harmful to minors. I recently received a letter from Georgia’s 2020 Librarian of the Year in Gwinnett county, who shared a story about giving a student a book that helped them connect with other students who read it, leading to new friendships and a sense of belonging. That’s the power of libraries and librarians📚 We can protect children without criminalizing librarians who serve in good faith. I will continue to stand for balanced policy, due process, and the freedom to learn. #protectourlibraries #librarians

Through its beautiful restoration and new museum-quality exhibits, the Center continues to honor the legacy of the local citizens who helped found it over a century ago.
