You can stripe your irons but completely miss it with the driver. Best believe your swing isn’t the problem all the time.
Most golfers subconsciously feel extra pressure with the driver because physically it’s longer, with a bigger head, more face to miss and the only club you hit the ball elevated with.
Let go of the idea that a longer club means you need to swing harder and bigger. That’s where most mistakes start - golf is a mental game!
Instead of focusing on the club in your hands, lock in on your setup—your alignment, your clubface, and your ball position. Having a solid set up, feeling confident and comfortable at the start is key. Lock in your target, trust in your swing and let the club do its thing.
Driver set up focus points 🎯
1. Ball Position: inside lead heel
2. Stance: wide and stable (slightly wider than shoulders)
Check that your trail (non-leading) foot is set slightly back in your stance.
If it creeps in front, it can promote an out-to-in swing path → slice.
3. Spine tilt away from target: check your shoulders are not open (this creates a slice swing)
4. Club face is square: grip and leading arm square to your leading foot.
5. Tee height: Half the ball above the face
