It’s very important to remember to tape up your electronics like your pickups and selector switch to prevent any steel wool particles from sneaking into the circuitry. That could potentially cause a ground out and ruin any performance or recording. Also when using the magnet, it’s imperative to keep it away from the pickups because you could risk changing the magnetism of your instrument. This is especially crucial with Alnico pickups so be careful about that. Use a brush to move any steel wool fibers away from the pickups and use the magnet to pickup any of the fibers off of the neck and whatever has rolled down to your workbench.
