I did a one-day trip to Harbin Ice City and it was honestly one of the most surreal places I’ve ever seen. If you’re visiting China in winter, you have to add this. Massive snow sculptures, neon-lit tunnels, frozen slides and full-on ice palaces… it’s like stepping into another planet.
I took the sleeper train from Beijing, spent the day at the Harbin Ice and Snow Festival, and booked a bullet train back (which I missed lol 🤭 and had to grab another sleeper). Brutally cold though… so be ready.
❄️ Wear ALL the layers and bring heat packs
❄️ Food is super affordable inside, drinks from around £2, meals from £3-4
❄️ Power bank is a lifesaver - keep it in your inner pocket
I didn’t stay overnight but it was 100% worth the trip. If you’re searching for where to travel in China in winter or something completely unique near Beijing - this is it.
