Whenever I share my homestead breakfast of bacon and eggs, I get so many questions about why I eat pork if it’s unclean, parasites, other theories…
This is how I view it. If you view it differently and don’t eat it, sweet! I have a close friend who does not so I make lamb or beef if she ever joins me for dinner. Do I care? No, lol.
I think these books say a lot of things and it gets slippery when you knit pick. Live how it feels right to you!
I absolutely love pork and may even get my own pigs to raise for the season. Pastured, fed properly and not on some farm used for other purposes…..
That’s the kind of pork I love. I know where this pig was raised and what they ate!
If I was afraid of parasites, I wouldn’t walk around my farm where my animals are barefoot, I wouldn’t have my animals in the house, I wouldn’t drink wild water…the list goes on. I think they are misunderstood of why they are in our bodies in the first place and what they actually do.
So….I will continue eating pork regularly. Especially lard, did you know it’s a great source of vitamin D?

CLI finally trained my chickens to stay off the porch.
The training method?
A broom and mild emotional breakdowns.
For the last year I’ve been shooing them off the porch approximately every 4 minutes.
So now they just lay in the grass right next to it like little feathery toddlers playing:
“I’m not touching you.”
Just staring at me like
“Relax… we’re technically in the yard.”
Honestly the attitude from animals that live in a coop I built is unbelievable. But do I still love them and want more …also yes!

GUHonestly, if I didn’t already have a wood stove, I would be getting one asap!
The grid is not reliable and power bills continue to skyrocket. Not to mention how they are implementing remote control temperature regulation in places….
Smart appliances are NOT IT. Wood heating, like our grandparents relied on, is where it is at.
This also helps take your heat source LOCAL. When you bring your food local, you build up the community and make yourself more resilient to whatever is going on in the world. Same goes with sourcing your heat locally.
There are so many benefits to heating with wood. Off-grid, no electricity required, keeps you active (chopping, stacking, hauling) and the ash has so many uses!
You can’t say the same for electric heat….
Seriously, if I didn’t already have fireplaces and a wood stove, I would be investing into that and figuring out how to make it work.
I want to be able to heat my home whenever, regardless if my digital ID doesn’t like what I’ve posted 😂
I want to operate outside of the system as much as possible.
