Just wanted to let you know about an important update to OCD in treatment in the UK.
IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) has changed names to NHS: Talking therapies for anxiety and depression.
There are two problems with this.
1) this name doesn’t indicate that it also covers a load of other conditions including OCD.
2) The OCD community has repeatedly said that talking therapies (meaning talking about the past etc) are not suitable treatments for OCD alone without CBT AND ERP. Please be aware when you say that that in the UK now CBT and ERP come under the bracket of talk therapies. ❤️❤️

NEMY SECRET STRUGGLE WITH DEPRESSION & ANXIETY
I wasn't planning to post twice in 1 day, but I just came across these notes when clearing out our office.
WOW. Who even was I?
I don't recognise that version of myself;
• Unaligned
• Insecure
• Surviving
I call it a secret because in 2017, at the time of embarking on Talking Therapies through #IAPT, no one except my husband knew I needed help.
Since I started Neet Nutrition, I have openly shared my journey with you all because my followers, clients, and patients really value that I can relate with you.
I'm an expert in putting on a smile & acting like everything is fine. It serves a purpose. Most South Asian women do this.
But I set myself intentions to be a better mother. At the time I started #cbt, my 2nd son was only 9 months old. I just knew I wanted to do better for him, for them, for us, for me.
YOU CAN SHIFT YOUR PERSPECTIVE & CHANGE YOUR LIFE.
My journey is evidence of what's possible.
8 years on, I'm a completely different woman living a life of alignment to my values. From being terrified of how I'd spend a day with my babies, I now home educate a 9yo and 12yo. Yes I still get shouty & impatient but in the grand scheme of things - I feel utterly blessed.
I'm most curious what Kulj will think when he sees this. Our lives now are beyond what we even dreamt of back then, very much due to our individual and collective efforts.

BHI swear if one more therapist brings up my childhood and my parents “faults”. I swear they all seem to rote learn and regurgitate the exact same preamble and apply it on every single client. And god forbid if #iapt would ever stop trying to squeeze you into a diagnosis of bloody depression and anxiety. It’s always ever got to be #depression and #anxiety and it’s always something your parents did. Honestly the state of #mentalhealthservices in UK is dire , and I’m talking about the “professionals” claiming to be “experts” …
It’s as if , if they work in mental health they got 5 diagnosis to choose from and they will give you one of the 5 and that’s it. Same with meds … and ya everyone gets meds because you’ll be waiting for 15 years to actually get a therapist appointment you know .
