You need to know about the Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ closest friend. Abu Bakr. May God be pleased with him. Before he was a caliph, he was a trader. From a young age he worked in textiles, and he became known for one defining trait: truthfulness. His reputation carried him further than shortcuts ever could. People trusted him. His words had weight. When Islam came, that honesty only deepened. In one famous moment, he gave every single penny he owned in the path of God. When the Prophet ﷺ asked, “What did you leave for your family?” He replied: “Allah and His Messenger.” Umar said that day, “I will never surpass Abu Bakr.” But his greatness was not only generosity. It was discipline, spirituality and restraint. He would place a pebble in his mouth to prevent careless speech. As caliph, the most powerful man in the world, he would quietly clean the home of a blind elderly woman every morning. When he managed the public treasury, he did so meticulously. Every penny accounted for. These are our role models. Wealth with integrity. Power with humility. Leadership with service. When research talks about how harsh words strain the nervous system and leave a mark on the person saying them, it echoes something the Quran already warned us about long ago: ( لَا يُحِبُّ اللَّهُ الْجَهْرَ بِالسُّوءِ مِنَ الْقَوْلِ ) Harmful speech doesn’t just travel outward, it settles inside first. The same thing happens with gratitude. Science explains how it calms the body and rewires the brain toward stability, while the Quran says it in one simple promise: ( لَئِنْ شَكَرْتُمْ لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ ) Even forgiveness, something people resist so much, turns out to be deeply protective. Letting go heals the body before it fixes anything else.
