from attending health tech conferences to attending medical school🌻..in yours 30s it truly has been a blessing getting into a medical program that i so longed for many years. as someone who took that MCAT not once, not twice, but FIVE TIMES to be here, i wouldn’t trade it for the world. throughout my professional years, i had the privilege to attend several wonderful health tech conferences and it all started by saying YES to volunteer as an event photographer. now as an M1, I have been quiet as of late but i’m slowly getting a rhythm that works best for me and excited to be back here in this platform. 🌻 miss you, Bee #premed #medstudent #medlife #medicalstudent

study SMARTER not harder bc I did and it got me and these were supposedly our hardest clinical simulated exams among the 5 that we do throughout my 6-year med school degree 🌟 game changing (aka life changing) resources and tips here ⚡️ **some only applicable for clinical years** 1️⃣ AMSA Med Ed 👉🏻 FREE online resource with multiple cases. cases written by students, HIGH YIELD for exam purposes. with explanations/helpful clinical pearls 👉🏻 drawback: sometimes only 1 case for that symptom/system 🧚‍♀️ I’m ungatekeeping all my study, productivity & work life balance hacks so you should follow 👀 2️⃣ eMedici 👉🏻 first time i used it last year and it was a GAME CHANGER !!! cannpt recommend enough for OSCE. my fav features were the in-built timer and examiner marking sheet that a friend can tick off/you can afterward. this was invaluable to me 💯 👉🏻 drawback: $$ and MCQs are so humbling but if you use my code ANSON20 that will give you 20% off 3️⃣ OSCE lab 👉🏻 has an AI simulator for cases that u can choose/have randomised !! you ask it questions like you would a patient, then say what u would check for on exam, order for investigations, do for management. helpful if you’re trying to build confidence / if you’re shy and want to practice alone 👉🏻 helpful in earlier stages of OSCE prep then I got frustrated bc I found it took me a long time (clicking on each examination feature) 4️⃣ ChatGPT 👉🏻 my friend built a generator that would randomise and create cases based on our subjects, and based on some past stations senior students had recorded 👉🏻 drawback: sometimes chat makes things up, check the facts esp if it involves management or cut-off numbers/scores. I preferred eMedici format to chat 5️⃣ Amboss 👉🏻 the loml during year 4. I used it less in 5th year but still heaps. so great at learning concepts. has everything all in 1 spot 👉🏻 also expensive. no discount code unfortunately but working on a giveaway - follow to keep an eye on this 👀 🧚‍♀️ and follow if you found this post helpful!! / want a step-by-step guide I’m putting together !! 🧚‍♀️ #medschool #medicalstudent #medtok #medschoollife #StudyTips

📣Why Shelf Exams Feel So Hard (and what actually helps)📣 Shelf exams are lowkey harder than Step studying. Not because the content is harder… But because rotations don’t expose you to every case you’re tested on. One week you’re on heme/onc. Next week the shelf asks about peds, OB, psych, and random cases you’ve never seen. That gap in exposure is exactly why I started using Neural Consult’s Clinical Case Hub. It gives you realistic patient simulations where you: 🩺 Take a full history (OLDCARTS) 🧪 Interpret labs & images 🧠 Get graded clinical reasoning feedback And the best part? Full sims take ~10–15 minutes, but Quick Sim mode is only 5–8 minutes — perfect between patients or after clinic. I’ve been using Quick Sim to stay sharp for shelf exams, and it honestly feels way more high-yield than passive review. If you’re a med student who wants more real patient-style practice (not just Anki + question banks), this is worth checking out. #medicalstudentlife #ShelfExams #MedStudent #ClinicalRotations #Step2Prep

Most med students think scribing is clinical… they’re wrong. Here is truth Roles like medical scribing offer flexibility and experience, but it’s important to understand what the job actually involves. As a scribe, you help physicians by documenting patient encounters and updating EMRs, learning daily patient terminologies, and understanding clinical workflows. It is not considered formal clinical experience because: ❌ You cannot touch or treat patients ❌ You cannot speak to patients directly ✅ Your job is to make accurate notes for physicians Even as an observational role, scribing is still extremely valuable it builds medical knowledge, enhances communication skills, and strengthens understanding of US healthcare systems, all of which are respected by residency programs and future employers. 💡 Looking for a flexible healthcare career? Scribing is a smart way to gain experience while working remotely. One of the best pieces of advice I got during clerkship so far was to change the order of my sentences when I’m presenting a patient. In med school, I feel like we’re drilled to always present chronologically (Age, Sex, History, HPI...). But I realized that when you call a consult or present to a staff physician, they’re often listening blindly. They have no idea if you’re about to tell them about a heart attack or stubbed toe. That’s why, instead of making them GUESS, I started using this method. Basically, you just give them the punchline first. ❌ How I used to do it: “Hello! I have a 64-year-old male with a history of diabetes and hypertension who came in last night with...” The result? The other person is trying to figure out which details matter while I’m talking, and they don’t know what’s relevant yet. ✅ How I do it now: “Hello! I have a case with new onset of Atrial Fibrillation in a 64-year-old male with a history of...” It’s such a small switch, but it primes their brain. Now, when you give the history, they know exactly why those details matter. It makes the whole conversation mean more from the beginning. I feel like med school wired us to get the basics like identifying information first, but you need to set the stage when it comes to presenting 🫶🏼 Let me know if you have any other tips on how to sound less like a medical student 😂❤️ Thank you for the positive feedback on my last tips video, let me know if you’re enjoying this type of content!

✅First Aid First Aid is your anchor. It holds everything together. If you truly understand the concepts—not just memorize them—and grasp the physiology and reasoning behind each fact, First Aid helps you compartmentalize the entire exam. ✅UWorld UWorld = active studying. Reading alone can turn into cramming, but UWorld forces you to think. It teaches you why an answer is right or wrong and helps organize your thoughts clinically. ✅Boards & Beyond This is your conceptual guide. Any time I read First Aid, did questions, and still missed a concept, I went straight to Boards & Beyond. The explanations help you truly understand—then apply that knowledge back to questions. ✅Pathoma (Chapters 1–4) I only did chapters 1–4, a few days before my exam—and it was GOLD. It gave me a solid foundation in pathology, cell injury, and basic disease mechanisms. ✅NBME questions NBMEs are essential for pattern recognition. This is where you learn how questions are actually written and how the exam thinks. 🔍 Supplemental (used sparingly): • YouTube for specific gaps (Dirty medicine for biochem, Randy Neil for biostats) • Ethics → mostly First Aid, which was enough for me ✨ Key advice: Do not overload resources. If you stick to these and study them diligently, there is no reason you shouldn’t pass Step 1 within 6 months. Save this 📌 Share with someone starting Step 1 🤍 Questions?
