With surgery to fix patella can expect a full recovery even in pro athletes. (Book em for surgery!😷⚒️) My technique of choice is to fix bone with 2 parallel hollow screws, and weave a heavy suture into figure 8 pattern for greater tension. since hyperextending my knee on june 13, these have been the most formative 6 months of my life. here’s a small glimpse of these days in 90 seconds. . in total, I have healed from: - tibial plateau fracture and ORIF/bone graft - LCL reconstruction - tibiofibular joint reconstruction with a hamstring allograft - open medial meniscus repair - high grade biceps femoris tear - acute deep vein thrombosis in my calf . there are a number of junctures I look back on where my future as an athlete was uncertain. if you remember one thing from following this journey, please let it be that YOU CAN DO IT. whatever it is. mindset and belief are everything. . I have a long way to go. but I’m 100% confident I will be back to ultrarunning at my strongest. . CLOSE YOUR EYES AND BECOME A MOUNTAIN. OPEN YOUR EYES AND REMAIN A MOUNTAIN. 🙏

If the pieces are unstable, surgeons attach small metal plates and tiny screws to keep everything perfectly still. 🔩 These plates are usually made from titanium or surgical stainless steel, materials that are strong, lightweight, and safe to remain inside the body. In many cases, the metal hardware never needs to be removed. 🦠 After the bone is stabilized, your body begins an amazing healing process. Cells called osteoblasts start producing new bone tissue around the fracture. Over weeks and months, the bone slowly rebuilds and strengthens, forming a natural bridge across the break. ⏳ Most wrist fractures take 6–12 weeks to heal, though full strength and mobility can take longer with physical therapy. 💡 The incredible part? 💪🏼 2 Weeks Post-Op Ankle ORIF Progress Update 🦶 Exciting progress at the 2-week mark! Max has been cleared to progress to full weight bearing. He is now using a moon boot inside and outside of the house, only cleared to take it off when rehabbing with my presence. Here’s what’s going well: 🔹Ankle AROM (Active Range of Motion) is steadily returning to normal. 🔹Scars are healing well 🔹Swelling is reducing day by day. Now that full weight-bearing is possible, the focus is on: 🔹 Reducing residual swelling 🔹 Normalizing gait and walking mechanics 🔹 Rebuilding strength and load tolerance in key muscles around the ankle—calf, peroneals, tibialis posterior, and anterior tibialis, as well as the Achilles tendon. On the manual therapy front, we’re continuing: 🔹Dry needling and release work through all the shank muscles (left & right). 🔹Using tools like the Compex machine to help facilitate the journey back to full strength, especially in the left calf. 💥 🔹Normatec compression boots are also in use for swelling management and recovery, helping to promote circulation and reduce fluid retention. So many lessons…but this remains true, GOD is amazing! my foot was hanging by on by a thread…but after 10 weeks post-op, I can finally walk unassisted. My steps may be wobbly and uncertain, but my faith in God is strengthened and unwavering. I’m incredibly grateful for family, friends, and all the prayers that surrounded me. Truly! ❤️ With 13 pieces of hardware supporting my ankle, there’s still a lot of work to do to get to full recovery, but I’m celebrating progress no matter how big or little it is 🥳🥳 #trimalleolarfracturerecovery #ankle #rehab #ORIF
