Ancestra 蛟 (Jiāo) represents Atelier Wen’s first venture beyond the Chinese watchmaking ecosystem, featuring a heavily customised, high-performance Calibre EPM03 by the French manufacture, Pequignet. Founded in 1973, it is the only remaining true independent movement manufacture in France, and the final bastion of the country’s storied watchmaking history. The version of the EPM03 present in 蛟 (Jiāo) is imbued with our characteristic expressions of Chinese cultural identity — this time in the form of a 446 character micro-etching of a 2000 year-old Chinese poem on the three-quarter main bridge. This is complemented by a black-polished balance bridge and ratchet-return wheel, and as well as an openworked, bi-directional rotor. The rotor features colimaçonnage (snailing) along its raised edges, frosting on its recesses, and our distinctive 回纹 (huí wén), engraved along the outer edges as well as around the central pivot. Pre-orders for this limited edition close on 5 August 2025, 23:00 HKT | 17:00 CET | 11:00 EST. It will be permanently discontinued thereafter.

La manufacture Française Pequignet lance la série spéciale Attitude Élysée, en association avec la Présidence de la République. Une série limitée numérotée à 300 exemplaires sous la marque “Élysée - Présidence de la République” dont la mission est de valoriser le “Fabriqué en France” et de contribuer au rayonnement du patrimoine de l’Élysée.🇫🇷 D’un diamètre de 39 mm elle embarque un mouvement de la manufacture Pequignet. Automatique elle offre 65 heures de réserve de marche ! La montre arbore les couleurs de la France, entre le blanc du cadran, le bleu des aiguilles/ bracelet et la surpiqûres rouge du bracelet. On retrouve le sceau de la Présidence de la République estampillé sur le cadran et le monogramme République Française (RF) sur la couronne et la masse oscillante. Ever since their first model, a Kickstarter success, @atelierwenwatches has sought to deliver features usually seen on grail-level, unobtainable pieces to a price that more enthusiasts could comfortably afford. Meet their latest creation, the Ancestra Jiāo, which goes all out with grand feu enamel, diamonds, and a high-end Pequignet movement (a paradigm shift for the brand) 🐉 The hand-hammered silver dial boasts a lovely gradient and luscious enamelling, atop which you'll find baguette-cut diamonds alternating with calligraphed numerals. The movement might be French but it also has a distinctly Chinese flair, etched with an ancient Chinese manuscript dealing with the themes of creation - appropriate considering the watch's name ⚓️ #timetidewatches #atelierwen

The movement that powers the recently launched @atelierwenwatches Jiao is the Pequignet EPM03, also known as the Calibre Initial, and it marks a major step forward for Atelier Wen in terms of both performance and perception. Introduced in 2021, the EPM03 is the third in-house calibre developed by @pequignet.horlogerie, a French manufacture whose original goal was to produce a movement made entirely, or nearly entirely, in France. Atelier Wen’s earlier watches, particularly the Porcelain Odyssey and Perception series, often drew criticism for using Chinese-made movements; a topic that became something of a sticking point for many collectors. The Perception’s SL1588 was a massive improvement over the Odyssey, but even then, the reality is that many buyers, especially in the rapidly climbing price range of the Perception series, still hesitate at the idea of a Chinese mechanical movement. The EPM03, by contrast, is a major leap forward on every front. It’s just 0.3mm thicker than the SL1588 but delivers a substantial 65-hour power reserve, hacking seconds, and much tighter regulation. Atelier Wen specifies the movement to run within -4 to +6 seconds per day, adjusted in six positions, with a targeted average deviation of just +/- 2 seconds, a level of chronometric ambition that puts it squarely in competition with more prestigious Swiss offerings. Their customization of the EPM03 is impressive too – the ratchet wheels and balance bridge are finished in mirror-like black polish, and the 3/4 bridge features an intricately laser-engraved Chinese manuscript containing 446 characters. The rotor is skeletonized tungsten, with a mixed finishing profile and a laser-etched Huiwen motif that subtly ties back to the brand’s design language. It’s not just a nice movement to look at, it’s one that reflects the same dual-cultural story that defines the rest of the watch. #atelierwenwatches #atelierwenancestra #atelierwenancestrajiao
