What if every electron in the universe is actually the same one? 🌌 In the spring of 1940, physicist John Wheeler called up his student Richard Feynman and said "Feynman, I know why all electrons have the same charge and the same mass." Feynman asked why. Wheeler said "Because they are all the same electron." Here is what Wheeler meant. Every electron in existence is perfectly identical. Same mass. Same charge. Same everything. No two snowflakes are alike but somehow 10 to the power of 80 electrons across the entire universe are carbon copies of each other. Wheeler's answer to that was breathtaking. There is only one electron. It just zigzags forward and backward through time so many times that at any given moment, it appears to be everywhere at once. When it travels forward in time it looks like an electron. When it travels backward in time, it appears as a positron, its antimatter twin 🔁 Feynman himself said the idea was too poetic to ignore. He later borrowed the backwards-in-time idea and built it into his path integral formulation of quantum physics, which won him the Nobel Prize in 1965 ✨ MIND-BENDING FACT: According to PBS Space Time, if you drew a Feynman diagram of the entire universe under this hypothesis, you would need just one line. One single particle weaving back and forth across all of space and all of time, creating every electron and every positron that has ever existed. Including every electron in your body right now 🧠 . . . . . . . . . . . Richard Feynman (1918–1988) was an American theoretical physicist, Nobel laureate, and one of the most influential scientists of the 20th century. Feynman is renowned for his work in quantum electrodynamics, his pioneering teaching style, and his ability to communicate complex scientific ideas clearly. Beyond science, he was a strong advocate for skepticism, critical thinking, and questioning authority, including religious claims. Feynman often emphasized that curiosity, evidence, and reason should guide human understanding, famously expressing that he preferred questions that can’t be answered to answers that can’t be questioned. His approach inspires both scientists and the public to challenge assumptions and rely on rational inquiry over dogma. #philosophy #thinkers #atheism #criticalthinking #archive

In 1965, when Richard Feynman received the Nobel Prize for his work in quantum physics, he was already known not just for his brilliance, but for his honesty about the limits of human understanding. He often spoke about meaning in a different way. For Feynman, the universe does not hand us a fixed purpose. There is no single answer written into the laws of physics that tells us why we are here. Instead, he embraced uncertainty the idea that not knowing is not a weakness, but a deeper form of truth. The meaning of it all is not given. It is explored, questioned, and perhaps even created through our curiosity, our experiences, and our search for understanding. The beauty lies not in having all the answers, but in the freedom to keep asking. A universe that allows wonder, without demanding certainty. And in the video, Brian Cox reflects on Feynman’s perspective, showing how the absence of a fixed meaning does not empty life of value it opens it to discovery, curiosity, and endless possibility. 🌌✨ Speaker: @profbraincox #space pace #universe #astronomy #life #humanity Curious Matrix

Richard Feynman was one of the most brilliant and charismatic scientists of the 20th century, known for his deep contributions to physics and his playful, curious approach to understanding the world. Born in 1918 in New York, he showed an early talent for mathematics and problem-solving, often exploring ideas in unconventional ways. Feynman made groundbreaking contributions to Quantum Mechanics, particularly in the development of quantum electrodynamics (QED), for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1965. His introduction of “Feynman diagrams” revolutionized how physicists visualize and calculate interactions between particles, making complex theories more intuitive. During World War II, he worked on the Manhattan Project, where he played a key role in the development of atomic research. Despite the seriousness of his work, he remained known for his humor, curiosity, and refusal to accept things without questioning them. Feynman was also a beloved teacher at the California Institute of Technology, where his lectures became legendary. His ability to explain complex ideas in simple language inspired generations of students and readers. His famous books, like Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!, reveal his adventurous spirit and love for life beyond science. What made Feynman truly unique was his philosophy: he valued curiosity over authority and believed that not knowing something was the beginning of true understanding. He encouraged people to question everything, think independently, and never lose the joy of discovery. . . . #richardfeynman #philosophy #quotes
