They’re now testing whether human aging can be reversed. Not slowed down. Reversed. In this talk, Harvard researcher Dr. David Sinclair explains a theory his lab has been developing for years about why we age in the first place. According to Sinclair, aging isn’t simply “wear and tear” like an old car breaking down. Instead, he says the body functions more like a computer system — and aging happens when the biological “software” begins to malfunction. 💿 The CD analogy Sinclair compares our DNA to the music stored on a compact disc. When we’re young, the “music” plays perfectly. Cells read the DNA correctly and produce the proteins needed to maintain healthy tissues. But over time, damage accumulates. Not necessarily to the DNA itself — but to the system that reads the DNA. He describes aging as “scratches on the CD.” The genetic information is still there, but cells gradually lose the ability to read it properly. When that happens, cells become confused, produce the wrong proteins, and diseases begin to appear. 🧬 Resetting the system Sinclair claims his lab has found a way to reset this biological software. By restoring how cells interpret genetic information, they’ve reportedly been able to make old cells behave like younger ones again. In laboratory studies, he says they were able to: • Reverse cellular age by up to 75% in six weeks • Restore function in complex tissues • Reverse blindness in animals 👁 Human trials are starting According to Sinclair, regulators in the United States have now cleared the path for the first human clinical trial focused on age reversal. If successful, the implications could be enormous: Not just treating individual diseases… But potentially addressing aging itself as the root cause. The results of those early human trials could begin appearing within the next year. For now, the question isn’t whether humans want to live longer. It’s whether science has finally reached the point where reprogramming the body’s aging process might actually be possible.
