This Bunker Technique is Simple and Effective! If you have a “Low Lip” Bunker like I do here, try this technique. You will try to create a Steeper Angle into the Ball (Angle of Attack). “Lifting the Club” is often how people describe the backswing. For Impact, I like to Feel as if I am “Smacking” the sand with the bottom of my club and then “holding” a low finish (the finish is after impact, not at impact!) Put a more weight on your “lead” side (left side for Right Handed golfers). This will help create stability and a steeper angle of attack. The ball generally comes out lower and with less spin, so please play for roll. I guess you could call this an “open face Punch Out”. Experiment with length of swing, or speed of swing, for distance control. Also experiment with different face angles, and wedge lofts, to achieve the desired result. We all come into the ball differently and it is acceptable to use different tools. Most golfers leave bunkers to chance. This one simple drill gives you a target, a system, and a repeatable low point. The problem is almost always the same. Your club is entering the sand too early or too late, and your low point shifts every single time. That leads to two outcomes, neither of them good: ✅ Too early and the ball stays in the sand ✅ Too late and you skull it over the green ✅ Fix the entry point and everything else falls into place Draw two lines in the sand 4 to 6 inches apart. Place the ball between them. Your job is simple: enter at the first line and exit after the second. Do that consistently and you will never guess your way through a bunker again. 📌 Save this before your next round 📩 Send this to someone who dreads seeing their ball roll into a bunker #bunkertips #bunkerplay #sandtrap #golflessons #shortgame
