There is a new discipline called GEO - Generative Engine Optimization. It is not about ranking in search results. It is about earning citations inside AI-generated answers. When someone asks ChatGPT who to hire, what tool to use, or how to solve a problem - the AI answers. And it pulls from sources. YouTube is now cited in 16% of AI outputs. Six months ago that was Reddit. The shift is happening fast. If you are not building content that positions you as the expert your niche trusts - you will not show up in AI answers either. Ask yourself: if someone asked an AI about your area of expertise right now, would it mention you?

Then come down here and click on AI performance. Ignore this and scroll down to pages. These are the pages on your website that AI sites the most. Click on the one that gets cited the most. AI does not use your site in its training data to recommend your brand. It literally does a web search. Best CRM for small businesses in ChatGPT - we see it searching the web. The trick is to see what it searched for and make content targeting those keywords. Copy the portion that comes after /c/ in the URL. Right click, inspect. Go to Network. Paste what you just copied into the filter. Refresh the page. Click on the orange brackets with the text you just copied. Go to the Response tab. Search this text for the word queries.  Now you can see exactly what ChatGPT searched for based on the prompt that you gave it. ‘Small business CRM comparison features pricing.’ YouTube gets cited the most in large language models, above Reddit. Use the language from ChatGPT - make YouTube videos targeting the language. Write articles on your website targeting the language. Put this language in your title. Add sections to your pages about this language. Find pages already ranking for this language, contact the author, ask them to recommend your brand. Your website is likely not in ChatGPT’s training data. It searches the web, recommends you based on what it’s finding. Now you know what to target. And get my method of SEO that specifically targets paying customers, users, warm leads, and gets surfaced in AI, at compactkeywords.com
