It is understandable that in theocracy, any war against the State can easily be considered a religious war. That can explain what we see in this video in Northern Nigeria. Which has also extended to Lagos Nigeria led by the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN). But the religious sentiment doesn't seem to explain why most of the predominantly muslim nations across the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia, aren't doing the same.
Even though many Iranians, at home and abroad support the end of the Ayatollah's regime, some of our fellow citizens are on the streets of Northern Nigeria protesting in support of Ayatollah's regime while chanting "Death to America," – the country whose military are currently on ground working with our country’s military to fight the terrorists.
It is interesting to see this protest happening in a region increasingly destroyed by religious and ethnic genociders. A region with great tension due to some overreaching of Sharia Law on non Muslims. But because we cannot see geopolitical issues beyond religious sentiments, we are on the streets for Ayatollah's regime, but not for over a thousand fellow citizens who have been murdered by genocidal terrorists within the first three months of 2026. Is that not a betrayal of fellow citizens who are victims of the Boko Haram and ISWAP Jihadists, and the Fulani genocidal terrorists?
While this protest in Nigeria might appear less serious, it uncovers the ideological issues destroying Northern Nigeria. Amidst the crisis in the Middle East, the Nigerian government needs to coordinate with the Sahel nations to increase security across vulnerable communities. We do not want a repeat of the event of 2006, when around 18 people were brutally murdered in a violent protest in Maiduguri, Nigeria, over the publication of Muhammad’s portrait in a Danish Newspaper. This is an ideological problem which even the terrorists are victims of.
May God grant peace to our nation and to the world. The peace He alone can offer.
