This quad/hut combo was jetting past an ice angler when all of the sudden… poof! If it’s your first trip on the ice with a machine pulling a hut… make sure you have a lead man checking the ice. Quad driver was pulled out and ok. But then they choose a town that doesn’t actually fit their day-to-day life. They like the idea of living in Simcoe County… …but they don’t realize how different places like Barrie, Alliston, Innisfill, Tottenham, Beeton, Collingwood, or Wasaga Beach actually feel. Some people picture weekends by the water in Barrie, quiet small-town charm in Tottenham or Beeton, or raising a family in Alliston. ☀️ But they end up somewhere where they’re driving everywhere, commuting feels longer than expected, and living here doesn’t quite feel the way they imagined. They assume Simcoe County is one thing. In reality, every town here offers a completely different lifestyle. Did you know Canada has ice roads? 🗺️ 🇨🇦 Every winter, when Lake Simcoe freezes thick enough, a temporary ice road opens between the mainland and Georgina Island, home to the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation. The road allows residents and visitors to drive directly across the frozen lake instead of taking the ferry which is closed this time of year. Ice thickness is carefully monitored, and the road only opens once it’s safe for vehicles.
