The CFIUS protects national security. Its mission matters most when critical infrastructure sits at risk. In 2005, Smartmatic announced a deal with Sequoia. In 2006 and 2007, Congress raised national security alarms. Those concerns forced a CFIUS review. Smartmatic ultimately divested Sequoia. We should declassify and release the 2005–2007 CFIUS review. Time has erased any legitimate “sources and methods” excuse. The American people deserve to know what, exactly, alarmed Congress about these voting machines. If foreign governments held any leverage over our election systems, transparency is not optional. It is the bare minimum required to protect trust in our elections.

Those pesky sources and methods. Sources and methods are frequently used to stop declassification, not just for Epstein but multiple topics. This statement by Mike Johnson essentially confirms that Epstein disclosure will implicate domestic and foreign intelligence agencies. Declassifying and un-redacting everything in the Epstein files will cause a “National security concern” according to Johnson. If intelligence agencies are implicated, that’s just more reason for ultimate transparency. Anyone who’s done their homework on Epstein is well aware of the intelligence agency connection. If the average person learns the CIA worked with Epstein, it’ll undermine the trust Americans have in it. What if it’s confirmed that Mossad was involved? The USA’s relationship with Israel will also be undermined.
