Biggest mistakes Indian students make in Australia 🇦🇺 I wish someone told me this earlier… Don’t repeat these if you’re planning to come here 👀 Follow for real student life in Australia 🇦🇺 1️⃣ Not researching cost of living before coming to big cities like Melbourne or Sydney - Find the cheapest at the student phase try to make friends and shift with them. 2️⃣ Depending fully on part-time jobs like Uber Eats without backup - Learn some skills up skill daily and get any part time job which gives valid pay slips. They are the game changers in Australia pay-slips are must. 3️⃣ Spending too much in first month (new phone, shopping, eating out) - At this time try to understand the new currency it will be difficult but by the time you will learn. 4️⃣ Not networking with seniors and other students- Make friends, talk to alumni and have good LinkedIn account to land first full time job. 5️⃣ Ignoring English communication improvement - It will be a little difficult to understand the slangs like “arvo” which means “afternoon” there are many learn these to talk to aussies. 6️⃣ Sharing room with random people without agreement - In student phase live under a person who has taken the house on lease so that you have no pressure about the paperwork and all. 7️⃣ Not understanding tax & superannuation system - If you are earning more than $18000 yearly , then that income is taxable. 8️⃣ Working too many hours and ignoring studies - Work in the working limits so that you remain inside the rules and regulations bubble . This will also improve your focus to studies. Never change course due to PR make studies priority! 9️⃣ Comparing their journey with others - People living in Australia for 10 years will obviously have everything more but if you work hard you will too reach there , get inspired by people never compare yourself or feel jealous. 🔟 Thinking PR (Permanent Residency) is guaranteed - Nothing is guaranteed in this country live in today enjoy and make some friends, make some memories . New rules for international students in Australia in 2026 🇦🇺📚 If you are planning to study in Australia or are already an international student, here are some important updates you should know in 2026. 📌 Work hours limit International students can work up to 48 hours per fortnight during study periods and unlimited hours during official semester breaks. 📌 Higher financial requirement Students now need to show at least AUD $29,710 per year to prove they can afford living expenses in Australia. 📌 Student visa fees increased The Australian student visa application fee has increased to around AUD $2,000, making it more expensive to apply. 📌 New “Genuine Student” rule The old Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement has been replaced with a Genuine Student (GS) test, where applicants must clearly explain why they chose their course and how it connects to their career goals. 📌 Stricter visa checks Australia has introduced stricter checks and processing rules to make sure only genuine students receive visas. 📌 Possible work hour increase There is also a proposal to increase student work rights to 60 hours per fortnight, but this change has not been approved yet. 💡 Australia is still one of the top destinations for international students, but understanding these rules is very important before applying. 🇦🇺 Australia Essentials for 2026 – Must Know Before Coming Planning to come to Australia in 2026? Save this reel 👇 1️⃣ Proof of Funds 💵 For an Australian student visa, you need to show around AUD $29,000+ for living expenses (as per latest guidelines). It is better to keep this money in your bank account for 3–6 months before applying to show financial stability. 2️⃣ Work Rights 💼 Currently, international students can work 48 hours per fortnight during study periods. A proposed rule change may increase this limit to 60 hours from July 2026, but this is not confirmed yet. 3️⃣ Post-Study Work Visa (485) 🎓 Important update: for most applicants, the age limit is now under 35 years for the Graduate (485) visa. If you are planning Australia late, age planning is very important. 4️⃣ Bank Account & TFN 💳 After arriving in Australia, open a local bank account and apply for your TFN (Tax File Number) immediately. Without a TFN, your income is taxed at the highest rate, and many employers won’t pay you legally. 5️⃣ Housing Crisis 🏠 Australia is facing a serious rental shortage. A shared room can cost anywhere between $600 to $1,500+ per month, depending on the city. Start searching early on Flatmates or Realestate.com.au before you land. 🔔 Final Note Australia is a great country, but proper planning is everything. #Australia2026 #StudyInAustralia #IndianStudentsInAustralia #AustraliaReality #StudentVisaAustralia #StudentLifeAustralia #VisaUpdates

I wish someone told me this when I was on a student visa. 1. Try to work in what you’re studying. Yes, you need money. We all do. But your future visas care about experience in your field, not just any job. If you study cookery, work in a kitchen. If you study IT, get an IT job — even entry level. That experience is what helps you stay. 2. Your job title on your payslip matters. Immigration and employers look at what you were officially paid as. If you’re studying to be a chef, your payslip should say things like: Chef, Commis Chef, Chef de Partie.. Not kitchen hand, waiter, or all-rounder. Same work, different title — but it changes how your experience is counted. 3. Save money. You’ll need it. Visa fees, tuition, medicals, emergencies — it’s not cheap. Sending money home is kind, but don’t forget yourself. You can’t help anyone if you’re drowning. 4. Don’t do anything that can risk your visa. One mistake can undo years of hard work. Stay clean. Stay smart. I’m not a migration agent — just someone who went through it. Sharing this so you don’t have to learn it the hard way. If you’re an international student trying to build a future in Australia, follow along 🇦🇺 #cheflife #australiastudyvisa #australia #studentvisaaustralia #internationalstudents
