“Real photographers don’t need to edit their photos” I find that a camera doesn’t always capture the feeling, it just captures what it sees. Some may disagree with me, but even in perfect lighting with a perfect composition, I always find myself so much happier with the result after editing. The photo was always there, and yes, it takes quite a bit of knowledge and practice to take a “perfect” photo without even touching any files. But the edit helped it speak louder, brought it closer to a work of art. Brought it closer to what the vision was in the first place. If someone has a vision for a perfect photo, they likely see it in their imagination in a very different way than the camera will. Why not use that imagination to be an artist, and not just someone who knows how to use a camera? What do you think? I certainly like to edit photos in a natural way but I still shoot in RAW here’s why… RAW photos collect more data into the camera giving you a lot more flexibility in the edit. Even if you like a natural look like me small tweaks can bring the photo back to life, restoring colours, details and depth. Whilst still being true to the original experience and if you do fancy doing a heavier edit you have full control which can be super fun!
