BRAnother visa scam has been exposed in Nigeria.
In February 2026, the Nigeria Police Force arrested Ojo David Oluwasesan, a 54-year-old man accused of defrauding victims with fake visa promises.
The suspect allegedly presented himself as a legitimate travel agent who could process visas and travel documents for Nigerians seeking opportunities abroad.
Victims were promised relocation to Luxembourg, one of Europe’s wealthy destinations.
But instead of visas and flight tickets, victims reportedly lost millions.
Investigations revealed that:
• Two initial victims paid ₦3.6 million for visa processing and flight tickets.
• More victims later emerged.
• Total losses reportedly reached ₦8.41 million.
The arrest was confirmed by the Osun State Police Command in Osogbo, following complaints from victims.
Cases like this highlight the growing problem of travel and visa fraud targeting Nigerians who want to relocate abroad.
Many victims trust agents who promise “guaranteed visas” — only to discover later that the documents are fake and the jobs never existed.
And the painful reality is that recovering the money is often extremely difficult, even after arrests are made.
So before you pay any travel agent promising visas or overseas jobs, verify everything carefully.
Because trusting the wrong agent can cost you millions of naira.

In 2023, visa wait times peaked at nearly 999 days, forcing Indian applicants to seek appointments in other countries.
