🚨 Most recent UPDATE: The Line 5 Reroute Hearing has been rescheduled to Thursday, April 16, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bayfield County Courthouse.
Line 5 Reroute Enbridge has started construction on a 41‑mile “reroute” of Line 5 around the Bad River Reservation after state and federal permits were approved. This new route would still cut through wetlands, cross around 185 waterways, and surround Bad River on three sides, threatening wild rice, fish habitat, and the Lake Superior watershed.
Bad River and environmental allies have gone to Iron County Court to challenge the Wisconsin DNR permits and ask the court to block or overturn them because of the risks to treaty‑protected resources and water quality.
