I hate being political on social media, but this is a fight I believe in. Gun violence and mass shootings have come dangerously close to me and my family. We can do better to protect the children and family members of our communities and our country. On this 3 year remembrance of the #CovenantSchoolShooting I felt compelled to revisit the steps I've taken to make changes since that horrible day when my husband and I helped a kindergarten class flee a shooter to safety across a 5 lane highway in nashville. Let's vow to find every way possible to fix this purely American problem. #Fact: Gun violence is the number one killer of children in America ages 1-18. We’re told school is the safest place for our kids… But let’s talk about reality for a second. In 2026 alone, there have already been multiple school shootings on K–12 campuses with injuries or deaths — and that’s just this year. Since 2018? 👉 244 school shootings where someone was shot. Let that sink in. — And this isn’t about being dramatic. It’s about what parents are quietly thinking every single day: 👉 “Are they safe?” 👉 “Are they okay?” 👉 “Are they being seen or just managed?” Because beyond the extreme cases… there’s also: • anxiety • bullying • kids falling behind • kids being pushed through a system that doesn’t fit them — At some point it stops being about grades. And starts being about your child as a whole. — And just to be clear… 👉 this isn’t a gun control post 👉 this isn’t political This is about: 👉 being in control of your family 👉 your child’s environment 👉 and how they learn and grow — That’s where everything changed for me. Wondering if your school district has one of these? DM me your school district and I’ll add you to my list! Anonymous Reporting Systems (ARS) prevent school shootings before they even happen by capturing the warning signs shooters show before their attack. Then the would-be-attacker can get help or, depending on how serious the situation is, law enforcement can get involved. But just because your school has an ARS doesn’t mean it’s effective. Some systems are too focused on a specific teen behavior. Others sound punitive instead of supportive which discourages use of the system. Others have a strong system but don’t execute the education piece well. Awareness of these systems across the U.S. has been slow. I assumed my school district had one because we are the biggest district in the state. But when I looked into it I realized we didn’t! Now we do because I had some conversations with the administration. 😊 Now I’m here to help you do the same. Because I hate violence. Especially violence in schools. 🙅‍♀️Not in my school. 🙅‍♀️Not in yours. Hit follow to become a more educated resource to your community.
