The mums who use their maternity leave to build their exit plan are usually the ones who never return to their 9–5 🤍 Not because they got lucky. But because they used that time differently. On my first maternity leave, I did what most mums do. I took the SMP. I enjoyed the newborn bubble. And I mentally prepared to go back. On my second maternity leave, I did the maths. After childcare, travel and full-time hours… my salary would’ve left me with almost nothing. So instead of counting down the months, I built something. I didn’t create my own product. I didn’t start a complicated business. I learned how to sell ready made digital products online in the small pockets of time I already had. Nap times. Evenings. Coffee at the table like this. And when I realised I could earn more than my weekly maternity pay from my phone… I knew going back full-time wasn’t my only option. Maternity leave can be more than a pause.
