Forget the paper planes you folded in school, this one rewrote the record books ✈️📄 The official Guinness World Record for the farthest paper-airplane flight belongs to a single throw that sent a paper aircraft 69.14 meters (226 feet, 10 inches) through the air. The record was set on February 26, 2012, at McClellan Air Force Base in California, and it was very much a team effort. Joe Ayoob, a former college quarterback, provided the perfectly controlled, high-speed throw, while aerospace engineer John M. Collins, also known as “The Paper Airplane Guy”, designed the plane with precision aerodynamics in mind. No motors. No tricks. Just one sheet of paper, elite engineering, and a world-class arm.

Imagine a rocket so huge it would launch straight from the ocean 🌊🚀 The Sea Dragon, proposed in 1962, was designed to be the largest rocket ever built — about 150 meters tall and 23 meters wide. Instead of launching from land, it would rise vertically from the sea, using the ocean as a natural launch platform to cut infrastructure and cost ⚙️🌍. Envisioned as a two-stage super heavy-lift vehicle, the concept aimed to simplify construction by using thick steel tanks and sea-based launches rather than complex spaceport systems. The idea was led by aerospace engineer Robert Truax at Aerojet and drew serious attention at the time — but it never moved past the design phase. One of the boldest “what if” ideas in space history 🌌 #technology #rocket #spacerocket #rocketlaunch #nasa #aerospaceengineering #engineering #usa #fyp #scitech #rockets #unseenworld

A twist you won’t see coming. 🚀 On the day she went into labor, aerospace engineer Judith Love Cohen, who worked at NASA, still went to work and even brought her engineering notes to the hospital. After finishing her calculations, she called her boss to say the problem was solved — and then gave birth. The baby she welcomed that day would grow up to become actor and musician Jack Black. Those classroom paper planes were just the beginning — this one set a global benchmark ✈️📄 The current Guinness World Record for distance was achieved with a single launch that sent a paper aircraft soaring 69.14 meters (226 feet, 10 inches). It happened on February 26, 2012, at McClellan Air Force Base in California. The achievement combined skill and science: former college quarterback Joe Ayoob delivered the high-speed, perfectly timed throw, while aerospace engineer John M. Collins — nicknamed “The Paper Airplane Guy” — created a design optimized for maximum glide and stability. No propulsion. No hidden tricks. Just clever aerodynamics and a powerful arm. @trends is where the internet makes sense. Follow along #engineering #aviation #science #records #innovation

An AI system didn’t just assist in designing this rocket engine—it became the engineer. LEAP 71’s NEURON is a 20 kN aerospike engine autonomously designed entirely through physics-based computation, without human tuning or trial-and-error iteration. The AI generated the full geometry, which was then 3D-printed as a single piece of copper and fired successfully on its very first test. Once trained, the system can produce new, fully functional engine designs in as little as 15 minutes. Inside the engine, combustion temperatures reach an extreme 3,000°C, while liquid oxygen at −183°C is used for regenerative cooling. The temperature contrast is so severe that frost forms on the exterior even as the engine runs at full thrust. The green flames seen during the test are copper atoms burning—an unexpected behavior that the AI itself will account for in future iterations. Developed by a software engineer and an aerospace engineer, this approach marks a shift from AI as a design tool to AI as the designer, learning directly from real-world tests and continuously improving with every firing. Forget the paper planes you folded in school — this one completely rewrote what was thought possible with a single sheet of paper ✈️📄 The official Guinness World Record for the longest paper airplane flight belongs to a throw that sent a paper aircraft soaring an astonishing 69.14 meters (226 feet, 10 inches) through the air. The record was set on February 26, 2012, at McClellan Air Force Base in California, and it wasn’t luck or a lucky toss — it was pure science and skill working together. The achievement was a true collaboration. Joe Ayoob, a former college quarterback, delivered the throw with extreme precision, balancing speed, angle, and control to maximize distance. The aircraft itself was designed by aerospace engineer John M. Collins, famously known as “The Paper Airplane Guy,” who applied real aerodynamic principles to paper folding. Every crease, balance point, and surface area was calculated to reduce drag and extend glide time. What makes the record so impressive is its simplicity. No motors. No hidden weights. No tricks. Just one sheet of paper, intelligent design, and a perfectly executed throw. It’s a reminder that even the simplest materials, when paired with engineering and human skill, can achieve something extraordinary. Kalpana Chawla was an Indian-born American astronaut and aerospace engineer who became the first woman of Indian origin to travel to space, inspiring millions across the world. Born on 17 March 1962 in Karnal, India, she joined NASA in 1995 and first flew into space in 1997 aboard Space Shuttle Columbia on mission STS-87. Her last mission was STS-107, launched on 16 January 2003, which was a dedicated science mission carrying out more than 80 experiments related to space, life sciences, and material research. Tragically, on 1 February 2003, Space Shuttle Columbia disintegrated during re-entry into Earth’s atmosphere, killing all seven crew members, including Kalpana Chawla. Her courage, dedication to science, and passion for space exploration continue to inspire students and scientists even today.
