“You’re a nurse. This is what you signed up for.” They said it when a patient grabbed your throat. They said it when you cried in the supply closet because you couldn’t feel your legs. They said it when you told them you weren’t okay and they handed you an EAP number and sent you back to the floor. They say it until you believe it. Until you stop reporting the assaults because nothing changes. Until you convince yourself the chest pain is just stress and the hair falling out is normal. So you stay. You stay until a patient breaks your ribs and you flinch every time someone moves too fast for the rest of your life. You stay until your body forces you out with seizures, autoimmune disease, chronic fatigue. You stay until you’re in your car before a shift thinking maybe it would be easier if you weren’t alive anymore. They know this is happening. They’ve always known. And they keep saying it — because that phrase makes YOU the problem. It keeps you quiet. It keeps you there until you break. And when you break, they replace you. That’s the model. I was in that hospital bed. I believed every word. I almost died believing that lie. You didn’t sign up for this. You signed up to help people. They turned that against you. The most powerful thing you can do now is leave.
 Get healthy. Choose yourself. There’s another side. I’m standing on it. And there’s room for you here. - - - - - - - - - - - #nursing #nurselife #nursesofinstagram #burntoutnurse #healthcaretruth nurseadvocate workplaceviolence mentalhealthawareness chooseyourself therealisticnurse

For decades, we imagined the immune system as a tireless soldier. Identify the threat. Attack. Eliminate. Repeat. Then science revealed something quieter and far more intelligent. Nobel Prize winning research by Shimon Sakaguchi, Fred Ramsdell, and Mary Brancou uncovered Regulatory T cells, known as Tregs. These cells do not fight. They listen. Their job is to know when the danger has passed and to tell the system to stand down. They are the brakes. They restore perspective. They signal safety. Without them, the immune system loses its sense of proportion. Defense turns into self-attack. This is how autoimmune diseases like type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, and multiple sclerosis can emerge. At the center of this balance is a gene called FOXP3. When it functions well, the immune system remains responsive, flexible, and grounded. When it fails, the body stays locked in survival mode. Biologically, this is regulation. Psychologically, it is the same story. Healing does not come from constant vigilance. It comes from the ability to return to safety. Balance is not weakness. It is intelligence at its highest level. This research doesn’t mean “think your way out” of autoimmune disease, and it definitely doesn’t replace medical care. What it does change is how we understand healing. The key insight from Treg research is this: autoimmune flares are often driven by a body that is stuck in danger mode. Tregs exist to sense safety and tell the immune system when to stop attacking. So how can people use this understanding in real life? I didn’t wake up one day and decide to care about gut health, nervous system regulation, or nutrition. My body forced me to. For a long time I believed the message most women believe: push harder work more ignore the fatigue ignore the symptoms Until eventually the body pushes back. Autoimmune disease, chronic illness, hormonal issues, burnout… they don’t usually appear overnight. Most of the time they’re the result of years of the body trying to get our attention. If you’re in that season right now: nothing about your struggle makes you weak. Sometimes healing starts with finally listening to the signals your body has been sending all along. Follow along if you are in the same boat or trying to become the healthiest version of you @meg.winje ❤️ #guthealth #hormonebalance #chronicillness #holistichealth #healthjourney

1. Melanoma is not always a dark raised “mole”. It can also be pink, white and often flat. It can present in the nail and genitals. 2. If you have light skin, burn easily, regularly used tanning beds or tanned then you are high risk for skin cancer. 3. If you’ve had just one skin cancer in the past, you have a ~30% chance of having another skin cancer at some point. 4. Niacinamide 500mg twice a day has been shown to reduce skin cancer risk by 20-25% in individuals with significant sun damage or skin cancer history. 5. Chronic immunosuppression (eg. CLL, organ transplant, some autoimmune disease) can dramatically increase your risk for skin cancer.

This is the life of someone living with an autoimmune disease. Fatigue is not occasional, it’s part of our daily routine. We wake up tired even after 8 hours of sleep. Mood swings aren’t “attitude”, they’re extreme and uncontrollable at times. Most of this is caused by heavy medications and steroids. It’s not a joke. It’s not drama. It’s how we survive and manage every single day. So the next time you wonder why we behave the way we do… please take a moment to look up the symptoms and side effects of the medicines we take. What looks like “overreacting” to you is actually a silent battle inside their own body. #rheumatoidarthritis #autoimmunedisease #invisibleillnessawareness #chronicpainwarrior #goodhealthandwellbeing

“You don’t look sick.” This sentence sounds harmless, but for someone living with autoimmune disease, it can feel very dismissive. Because many autoimmune conditions are invisible illnesses. People don’t see: • the constant fatigue • the joint stiffness • the inflammation • the flare days Just because someone looks fine doesn’t mean their body isn’t fighting a battle. Let’s be kinder and more understanding 🤍 Comment 💛 if you or someone you know relates to this. Autoimmune disease does not start overnight. It starts with triggers your body cannot clear. The 4 most overlooked root drivers of autoimmunity: • Mold and mycotoxins • Parasites • Viruses • Heavy metals These biotoxins and pathogens disrupt immune regulation, increase systemic inflammation, and can trigger molecular mimicry, where your immune system begins attacking your own tissue. And here is what many people miss. The oral cavity is one of the most common entry points and hidden reservoirs for these triggers. Chronic dental infections, root canals, cavitations, metal restorations, and jawbone inflammation can act as ongoing immune stressors. This is where biological dentistry becomes critical. It evaluates the mouth as part of the immune and endocrine system, not separate from it. If you are dealing with Hashimoto’s, chronic fatigue, brain fog, or persistent inflammation, you do not just suppress symptoms. You investigate the source. Save this. Share this. Start asking better questions. Original video credits: Ultimate Human Podcast (YT) #Autoimmune #AutoimmuneDisease #Hashimotos #Chronic #Dentistry

1. I look “fine” on the outside - Fatigue, pain, and brain fog aren’t always visible. 2. High-functioning doesn’t mean healthy - Just because I work, socialize, or keep up appearances doesn’t mean I’m not struggling. 3. Symptoms are unpredictable - One day I’m up, the next I’m bedridden. It confuses people. 4. Invisible illness is hard to grasp - Autoimmune disease, chronic fatigue, migraines. If they can’t see it, they think it’s not real. 5. I minimize to avoid judgment - I downplay my symptoms so people don’t think I’m dramatic which only makes understanding harder. Living with chronic illness, autoimmune disease, or invisible illness can be isolating, partly because people don’t always understand how sick you really are. Well then, you’re not alone. For many autoimmune diseases, the average time to diagnosis is 4 to 7 years after symptoms begin. That means people are often living with ongoing inflammation, nerve involvement, vascular changes, and organ stress for years before anything is officially labeled. Autoimmune disease affects an estimated 5 to 8 percent of the population, and women make up the majority of those cases. Early symptoms are frequently dismissed as stress, anxiety, burnout, or “normal labs,” especially when bloodwork does not yet meet rigid diagnostic thresholds. I am currently being treated for lupus, even though I do not technically meet full diagnostic criteria yet. My labs are not considered severe enough. But my symptoms are clear. I have the classic malar rash across my face, joint pain and stiffness, fatigue that goes far beyond normal tired, hair loss, Raynaud’s phenomenon, frequent unexplained bruising, and vascular issues. These symptoms follow lupus patterns closely enough that early lupus-targeted medication has helped, which supports the clinical picture. This is the reality many people live in. Diagnostic criteria are slow to evolve, but disease progression does not wait. By the time labs catch up, damage may already be done. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone 💕 #AutoimmuneDisease #ChronicIllnessAwareness #InvisibleIllness #MedicalGaslighting #LupusAwareness

This is one of the truest statements I’ve ever heard. And honestly… how ridiculous is this? Modern farming practices have destroyed our soil, stripping our food of its natural nutrient density. On top of that, glyphosate-based herbicides contaminate our food, and we consume them daily without question—quietly wreaking havoc on the gut microbiome, immune system, and overall health. Then we wonder why gut issues, autoimmune disease, anxiety, and chronic illness are exploding. Nature already had the answers. But man-made problems created systems that now require endless man-made “solutions.” It’s time to return to regenerative and biodynamic farming, real food, and biological wisdom.
