LE✨ La historia de Bartolo Longo parece salida de una novela, pero es real.
Nació en Latiano (Italia, 1841), en una familia católica devota.
Durante su juventud, mientras estudiaba Derecho en Nápoles, se dejó arrastrar por el ambiente anticlerical y esotérico, llegando incluso a ser consagrado “sacerdote” en un rito satánico.
Aquello lo hundió en ansiedad, vacío y desesperación.
🙏 Su conversión comenzó cuando un fraile dominico, el Padre Alberto Radente, le entregó un rosario.
Bartolo lo rezó con devoción y descubrió una fuerza capaz de liberarlo de su pasado. Desde entonces, dedicó su vida a reparar el daño y a difundir el rosario como camino de redención.
🏚️ En el Valle de Pompeya, levantó escuelas, orfanatos y la Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Rosario, que transformó una región abandonada en un faro de fe.
Murió el 5 de octubre de 1926, repitiendo sus palabras:
“Fui esclavo de Satanás; ahora soy esclavo de María.”
🕊️ Fue beatificado por San Juan Pablo II en 1980 y será canonizado el 19 de octubre de 2025, en pleno mes del Rosario.
Su cuerpo reposa en la cripta de la basílica de Pompeya, donde miles de peregrinos siguen rezando la oración que cambió su destino.
Bartolo Longo no fue un mito: fue un hombre real que cayó y se levantó con un rosario en la mano.

He built the stunning Pontifical Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary of Pompeii, founded schools and orphanages for children, promoted the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary decades before it was officially declared dogma, was friends with Pope Leo XIII... oh, and his writings inspired Pope John Paul II to propose the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary.
Perhaps the most impressive aspect of his life, however, was his absolutely radical conversion. To set the scene, Fr. Joseph-Anthony describes the path that Bartolo was on, before repenting and returning to the Faith.
