BAKrystal Bentham of Combermere School will be the one to watch in the Under 20 Girls 400m, advancing with the fastest semifinal time of 55.95 seconds. At BSSAC last year, Bentham completed the sprint double in the Under-17 Girls 100m (12.32) and 200m (24.79). Meanwhile at the 2025 CARIFTA Games, Bentham narrowly missed out on the Under-17 Girls 200m final with a 25.05 clocking which placed her ninth overall.
However this year, Bentham has shifted her focus to the 200m and 400m and is reaping the benefits. Earlier in March at the National Junior Championships, Bentham won the Under-20 girls 400m in 54.53 seconds, dipping comfortably under the CARIFTA standard of 55.00 seconds.

ONBentham, better known as Mr. 2 Bon Kurei, is a beloved One Piece character, initially a Baroque Works officer agent and antagonist who became one of Luffy’s most loyal allies. Known for his flamboyant okama (crossdresser) persona, Swan Ballet Kenpo fighting style, and the Clone-Clone Fruit (Mane Mane no Mi), he famously sacrifices himself twice—first in Alabasta and later in Impel Down—to save Luffy. He is currently the queen of Newkama Land in Impel Down.

HIJeremy Bentham (1748–1832) was an English philosopher and social reformer best known for developing utilitarianism, the idea that society should aim for “the greatest happiness of the greatest number.” He believed laws and institutions should be designed rationally, not based on tradition or emotion. Although he never worked as a prison official, he was deeply interested in how prisons, schools, hospitals, and workplaces could be organized more efficiently and humanely.
In the 1780s, Bentham proposed the design of a new type of prison called the Panopticon, meaning “all-seeing place.” It was a circular building with cells arranged around the outside and a central watchtower where guards could observe inmates. The key feature was that prisoners could never tell when they were being watched, which Bentham believed would encourage people to regulate their own behavior. He argued this model would reduce violence, require fewer guards, and create order through the possibility of surveillance rather than constant force.
The Panopticon was never fully built as Bentham imagined, but the concept became hugely influential. Later thinkers pointed out that the same principle — people behaving differently because they might be watched — now shows up in modern prisons, schools, workplaces, and even digital surveillance. Bentham saw his design as humane reform, but history has treated it more cautiously. His work reminds us that ideas intended to improve society can also become powerful tools of control, depending on how they’re used.
