This hand gesture is shared as a state-shift / pattern-interrupt tool, not a medical cure. What science supports: • Hand movements and finger postures change brain activity (EEG) via the motor cortex • Intentional gestures influence the autonomic nervous system (calm vs stress) • Yoga mudras show measurable effects on stress, attention, and emotional regulation in small studies • Movement + attention helps interrupt repetitive thought loops Ancient context — In Hatha Yoga texts, mudras were never presented as “magic fixes.” They were tools to direct prana (attention/energy) and steady the mind through the body. The Hatha Yoga Pradipika and related texts describe mudras as practices that work with breath, focus, and awareness — not in isolation. There isn’t yet a large RCT proving this exact finger position causes a specific outcome — and I don’t claim that. I don’t believe we can turn back the clock on Alzheimer’s, but we can take meaningful steps to protect and support cognitive function as we age. Regular brain exercises, staying socially and intellectually engaged, and getting consistent physical activity can all support brain health. I also think certain supplements, like lion’s mane mushrooms, may offer some benefit. Brain health is just as important as phsyical or mental health, so be sure to work it into your routine. #BrainHealth #HealthyAging #BrainExercises
