Speaking before AK Party members in Ankara today, the president delivered one of his most direct appeals for Islamic unity since Operation Epic Fury began on February 28. “We do not have a religion like Sunnism or Shiism,” he said from the podium. “We have a single religion, and that is Islam.” He then named Ali, Omar, Uthman, Hasan, Hussein, Aisha, and Zaynab as shared figures belonging to all Muslims, bridging the deepest theological fault line in Islam in a single breath.
