You might not want to live in a house with 11 other people — but you might hit a stage in life where paying 30% less for housing matters. That’s what this option offers. Eli at Orange Splot Development created a communal-type home using existing zoning rules. The result is a community-oriented space that some choose because they like it, and others choose because it’s affordable when they need it. It worked thanks to Eli’s creativity and Portland’s flexible zoning. But options like this shouldn’t require creativity. They should be allowed by right. This is Incremental Development: small-scale builders creating homes for their own neighborhoods. #urbanism #incrementaldevelopment #developer #realestate
